Manager Tax Controversy ServicesWashington, D.C. Job Description:Deloitte Tax LLP is seeking an experienced tax professional to join the Tax Controversy Services (TCS) practice in our Washington National Tax office. Nationally, our TCS group is comprised of over 35 attorneys, accountants, former Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Chief Counsel Attorneys, and other IRS practice and procedure subject matter specialists. The mission of the TCS group is to provide first-in-class tax controversy solutions to assist taxpayers in managing and resolving tax controversy matters as efficiently and effectively as possible. As a Manager in our TCS practice, you will assist clients with all aspects of IRS audits, appeals and other practice and procedure matters. Responsibilities:Assist with managing IRS examinations, including responding to Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments and other exam related mattersAssist with preparing or reviewing Protests to 30-day letters and assist with representation of clients at IRS Appeals conferencesAssist clients with various alternative dispute resolution procedures such as Pre-Filing Agreement submissions, Fast Track Settlement proceedings and Early Referral to Appeals proceedingsAssist clients with resolving penalty notices by drafting or reviewing penalty abatement requestsPerform research on various technical and procedural tax mattersDevelop and present training materials and other information to educate Deloitte Tax professionals on IRS practice and procedure issuesResearch and write articles on current tax topics for internal and external distribution Qualifications:At least 5 years of tax experience, preferably representing clients in federal tax controversies or representing the government in federal tax mattersBachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and either a licensed CPA or attorneyStrong understanding of IRS operations, its procedures and its processesExcellent communication, public speaking, research and writing skills requiredExperience with developing, mentoring and counseling staff level team membersHow you ll growAt Deloitte, our professional development plan focuses on helping people at every level of their career to identify and use their strengths to do their best work every day.
