Job Summary

As a Communications Manager, you will work closely with your colleagues on the Tax Communications team, senior leaders, and subject matter experts to develop effective internal communications strategies, plans, and deliverables to drive Tax business objectives. Additionally, you will provide project management and event support for select Tax leadership meetings and learning programs. Seeking internal communications professional with a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience professional services or related industry experience preferred. Event management experience is a plus.

Work you ll do

  • Work with Tax senior leadership to identify key initiatives where strategic internal communications support can produce the greatest impact, providing strategic counsel on internal communications channels, engagement approaches, and cutting-edge technologies.

  • Develop and execute strategic Communications plans to support these key initiatives.

  • Counsel and negotiate with internal clients on requested or recommended deliverables by demonstrating what has the best return on investment.

  • Employ strong project management skills (initiating, planning, executing, managing, and closing projects to achieve plan objectives) in support of internal Tax leadership and learning events throughout the year.

  • Provide onsite support for select internal Tax events to ensure high quality execution, enhancing processes and efficiencies, and to drive desired participant outcomes.

  • Develop, write, review, and edit internal communications in support of Tax strategic priorities (e.g., leadership messages, articles, talking points, webcast content, practice-wide newsletter content, internal website pages, social media content, etc.).

  • Ensure editorial/quality reviews of practice-wide messaging and communications plans for consistency, accuracy, and clarity, and provide feedback on team members work product to ensure achievement of desired competencies.

  • Understand and apply communications measurement to understand impact of internal communications efforts and contribution to Tax communications efforts.

  • Manage and work with more junior members of the team (through dotted line reporting structure), to drive desired project outcomes, and support their continued professional development.

  • Ability to collaborate across the Marketing & Communications organization, including applying best practices to day-to-day practices, and integrate national content into Tax-specific channels as appropriate.

  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times when dealing with sensitive or proprietary information.

  • Internal communications professional with a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant communications experience professional services or related industry experience preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, English, Business, or Public Relations

  • Preferred location: Tri-state (NJ, NY, CT), Boston, Washington D.C., Chicago, Detroit, or Atlanta

  • Executive presence, professional client service manner, demonstrated ability to take initiative and interact with all levels of management and adapt to business needs.

  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization with a virtual team.

  • Interpersonal, verbal, and presentation skills, including ability to interact with senior leaders and highly intellectual thinkers.

  • Collaborative working style to build relationships with multiple business communication, marketing, and technology teams.

  • Strong knowledge of best practices in corporate communications.

  • Proven ability to communicate across variety of stakeholder groups and present complex information in easily understandable format tailored to each audience.

  • Experience in measuring the effectiveness of communication strategies and approaches. Experience with PoliteMail a plus.

  • Team-oriented approach with ability to take initiative, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet client expectations and deadlines across multiple projects.

  • Able to independently manage workload, knowing when to escalate challenges appropriately.

  • Sense of urgency and responsiveness.

  • Conceptual, creative thinker with a passion for writing, storytelling, and the willingness to learn from others.

  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Expert level proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word; knowledgeable in all aspects of Microsoft Office and ancillary programs.
