Work you ll do

As an HR Assistant (PAR Processing) in the Human Capital group you will:

  • Process personnel action requests through the use of various federal and agency-specific systems and platforms, applying decision logic to determine the correct nature of action code and processes steps to each

  • Apply seasoned judgement and past practice or experience in developing new approaches where precedents are unavailable

  • Provide advice and consultation to managers and employees on all phases of the recruitment and staffing process and the interview and selection process. Recommend innovative methods and strategies to resolve problems of job turnover, long- and short-term workforce planning, downsizing, and reinvention initiatives, while ensuring the integrity of actions taken

  • Analyze, modify, and/or adapt systems or techniques to solve a variety of compensation problems/conditions by applying comprehensive knowledge of policies and regulations. Monitoring compensation data and analyzing trends and/or anomalies, and their significance, to ongoing client programs and operations. Developing and recommending changes to directives within the framework of policies and established procedures

  • Apply an in-depth knowledge of personnel concepts, and a thorough understanding of the missions and structures of assigned organizations, to resolve complex HR processing challenges

  • Advise managers about appropriate disciplinary or other corrective techniques that are responsive to a range of conduct and performance problems. Interpreting facts and events, gathering background information, and preparing formal correspondence on a full range of disciplinary actions

  • Advise and assist employees, managers and supervisors on grievance procedures and appropriate options for proper resolution of conflicts or problems

  • Assure that official case files are properly maintained with complete documentation to support recommended or final action

  • Interpret policies and providing advice on other personnel issues

The Team

Human Resources Transformation

The HR Transformation team is a core component of our Human Capital practice the work we do supports the five major issues our clients are facing. We collaborate with our clients to develop leading global HR strategies and support organizations in achieving excellence through implementing solutions that transform how they organize, develop capabilities, deploy leading technology, and deliver a leading employee experience.

Keeping the employee in mind, all our services cater to improving an organization s productivity through their human capital asset. The client issues we work with range from the need for a comprehensive HR strategy to determining the need for new and enabling technologies, to streamlining HR operations and transforming the way HR is delivered.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Two (2) to four (4) years (minimum) of federal human resources, position classification, and organizational management experience

  • Knowledge of a wide range of federal HR concepts, practices, laws, regulations and policies

  • Experience supporting federal government HR organizations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact with people at all levels of an organization

  • Experience producing and presenting reports to executives

  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint

  • Experience applying Human Resources principles, Federal HR Laws, regulations, and policies relating to position classification, position management, and organizational design concepts

  • Experience conducting and synthesizing research information into actionable information

  • Ability to understand and respond effectively to complex or sensitive inquiries

  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required clearance for this role

  • Ability to work full time in Washington, DC

Preferred:

  • Prior professional services or federal consulting experience
