The Center, which publishes 50 plus studies a year, is staffed by professionals who bring a wide array of expertise from academic to professional to hands-on experience. When it comes to insight, what really matters is not just the quality of the idea, but also how to translate it into action.

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

As a key member of the Center s research team, the Research Manager will help to craft a research agenda to address the most pressing challenges of today s National Security leaders. Then research, write, or coordinate in-depth research reports, case studies, articles, or blog posts, etc. which integrate information from a wide range of primary and secondary sources, including surveys, third-party research and databases, think-tank reports, government publications, presentations, industry commentaries, and news articles. Finally, the Research Manager will work with client service professionals to help amplify the ideas of this research in the marketplace via client presentations, speaking engagements, social media and other efforts.

The preferred location is Washington D.C. May require travel to attend client meetings, conferences, and/or training sessions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the practice leadership and other teams (marketing professionals, public relations, etc.) to develop a thought leadership agenda

  • Develop thought leadership focused on defense, national security and law enforcement

  • Develop thought leadership focused on the application of emerging technologies to government

  • Lead research projects based on both primary and secondary research including advanced analytic techniques, such as predictive analytics, data mining, text mining, and/or sentiment analysis

  • Build effective working relationships with subject matter experts within the firm and the external marketplace, and conducts effective interviews

  • Help articles reach their intended audience through a variety of methods from speaking engagements and client workshops to social media.

  • Manage timelines and project deliverables with internal stakeholders and outside vendors to create quality, on-time thought leadership

  • Organize and manage research project workflow to achieve project milestones
