Consulting Corporate Development: Senior Associate (SC level)

Role Description

Consulting Corporate Development is looking for a high-performing Senior Associate (SC) for its Investment Center of Excellence focused on evaluating and analyzing large-scale capital investments on a full-time basis.

Timing: position available immediately

Reports to SM and leader of the Investment COE (Center of Excellence) within Consulting Corporate Development (CCD)

Team: Part of a full-time team of 3-4 within Consulting Corporate Development; the team will work across multiple client service professional teams, working with business unit leadership, evaluating each team's investment request/proposal.

Location: Remote with as-needed team meetings often occurring in Washington DC, Chicago, Philadelphia, or New York preferred. Limited travel.

Role Description Detail:

The Senior Associate role works with CD on large-scale capital investments, both organic and inorganic. The Investment COE is responsible for developing and vetting investment theses to support these high-priority investments across practices within Consulting. This includes vetting the underlying strategic vision and operating assumptions required to drive sound investment decisions and building the financial business case to justify the investment. This role supports the leader of the Investment COE in making sound investment recommendations and supports the sponsors of potential investments in building compelling financial cases to support investment.

This role will work on teams composed of full-time Consulting Corporate Development leadership (SM) and project resources daily and report into Consulting Corporate Development senior and executive leadership.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Development of investment theses to support high-impact capital investments

  • Data interrogation and financial analysis

  • Financial modeling, including development of complete prospective financial statements

  • Conducting game theory and scenario analysis

  • Developing a strong personal brand for investment processes and analytical expertise with practice leadership

  • Supporting the development of executive presentations to present a compelling analysis and case for/against investment

    Desired Capabilities :

Capabilities include:

  • Experience in data analysis and financial modeling including:

  • Experience with common methods and tools for interrogating business data

  • Business case development

  • Financial planning and analysis, and statement construction

  • Interest and aptitude in learning strategic frameworks and analyses to evaluate business problems

  • Interest in high-growth emerging technology areas: e.g., Digital technologies, Cloud, Internet of Things, Cognitive Science/Artificial Intelligence

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Self-motivated results-oriented, and able to work independently and cooperatively within a team

  • Preferred candidates will have 4-5 years of Investment Banking, Equity Research, Transaction Services, Corporate Development, or Strategy Consulting experience.
