Work You ll Do
Responsible for providing tax research and analyses for clients in diverse industries; work closely with clients and provide managerial support to members of the Deloitte Tax team in order to understand each organization s global goals and strategies and analyze how industry and economic trends affect the business; responsible for keeping up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues, analyzing the client's business and tax systems, taking responsibility for clearing open items relating to assigned areas, and meeting client deadlines; manage day-to-day client service relationships and provide tax services to help improve compliance and maintain client s overall tax risk profile; manage the delivery of tax planning services including preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns; oversee the preparation of tax work papers and tax returns including extensions, estimates, and tax provisions; coordinate data gathering with various functions, gather data electronically and at the appropriate level of detail, and review data for completeness; and integrate data collection, reviewing client financials, calculating preliminary taxable income and various tax return items, and reviewing and signing off on tentative taxable income.
Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Taxation or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
Three years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
Experience must include three years of:
Preparing and reviewing partnership federal and state Schedule K-1s and tax returns;
Performing tax compliance services for multiple clients in the Asset Management industry, including private equity firms, hedge funds, and funds of funds;
Reviewing partnership agreements and prepared workpapers to calculate taxable income, book-to-tax difference, and partner income allocation, including Section 704(b) allocations and waterfall calculations;
Identifying and analyzing ECI, UBTI, FDAP, and PFIC income and generating related K-1 footnote disclosures and Forms 8621;
Collaborating with reporting teams, analyzing client transactions, identifying reporting and withholding for foreign partners, and preparing Forms 1042 and 1042-S;
Reviewing underlying K-1 pickups and calculating pass-through income for multi-tiered private equity funds;
Preparing and reviewing PFIC (Passive Foreign Investment Corporation) statements, Form 5471, Form 926, Trust Return 1041, Form 1065, Form 1120, and Form 8865 for US investors;
Preparing taxable income calculation and phantom income reconciliation, and calculating tax basis amortization of original issuance discount, market discount, and premium;
Utilizing tax software, including GoSystem, ProSystem, Corptax and CCH Axcess to provide tax compliance services to clients;
Leading onshore and offshore teams to manage large compliance engagements; and
Mentoring and coaching junior staff.
