Deloitte Site Reliability Engineer/Linux /Big Data in San Francisco, California

Work you'll do/Responsibilities

  • SREs in our team keep the systems up and running with the highest level of availability, and create highly automated systems and pipelines.

  • Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of recommendation systems - from system design consulting through to launch reviews, deployment, operation and refinement

  • Deliver tools/software to improve the reliability and scalability of services, automate operations and improve R&D efficiency

  • Build availability of large-scale services deployed across global data centers

  • Plan, manage and optimize cloud resources utilization, ensuring SLA of large-scale clusters

  • Measure and monitor availability, latency and overall service health

  • Practice sustainable incident response and postmortems.

  • Team will build a Next Gen platform for large multi-media client and rapidly scale US operations to help meet critical US Government compliance objective of complete data independence from China.

  • Manage everything related to US traffic, infrastructure, security, and data. Gain alignment on client's globally diverse culture while maintaining a relentless focus on impact & outcomes over process. Manage change and propagate engineering best practices throughout the transition.

  • Long term multi-year project based assignment with multi-media client.

The Team

The US Cloud Engineering Offering focuses on enabling our client's end-to-end journey from On-Premise to Cloud, with opportunities in the areas of Cloud Strategy and Op Model Transformation, Cloud Development & Integration, Cloud Migration, and Cloud Infrastructure & Managed Services. Cloud Engineering supports our clients as they improve agility, resilience and identifies opportunities to reduce IT operations spend through automation by enabling Cloud. We accelerate our clients toward a technology-driven future, leveraging vendor solutions, Deloitte-developed software products, tools, and accelerators. This role is remote initially with the expectation to relocate near client offices in the future.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of Site Reliability Engineering experience at the enterprise level. Debugging and troubleshooting application production performance issues.

  • 4+ experience in Linux system administration and network configuration

  • 4+ years experience Big Data technologies, e.g. Apache Spark, Hadoop, M/R, Hive, Metastore, Presto Flume, ClickHouse, Flink, etc.)

  • 4+ years in performing data analysis, ingestion and integration. ETL and architecting data systems. Schema design and data modeling.

  • 4+ years of SQL, SQL queries, performance tuning, and shell scripting.

  • Intermediate coding skills in Python, Golang, C+, C++

  • Consulting background. Experience working at client sites.

  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

  • Live near or willing to eventually relocate to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, or Seattle area to be near client offices.

Preferred

  • Live in or near Mountain View or Culver City, CA, Seattle, WA, or New York.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline

  • Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

  • Passionate and self motivated about Big Data

  • Experience in Cloud native monitoring and admin tools e.g. Prometheus and Grafana

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York City, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to New York City and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $98,000 to $164,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
