Senior Platform Engineer
Work you'll do
Deloitte is seeking a Senior Platform engineer to lead the implementation of a DevSecOps centric AI/ML capability for one of our clients. The Senior Platform engineer will lead the direction to enable multi-cloud infrastructure automation, containerized architecture, microservices software architecture, and guide product teams to adopt DevSecOps culture, practices and tools.
This role requires the following experiences and capabilities:
Lead by example and coach teams using paired development to create infrastructure as code to dynamically provision and manage cloud infrastructure and services with technologies like Terraform and Ansible.
Work with other engineering teams to architect and implement OpenShift 4 Kubernetes container platform, dependent infrastructure, CI/CD, monitoring with improvements to scale to hundreds of working product teams.
Guide the application of common development tools and infrastructure, such as CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, provisioning, and configuration management.

Participate in initial work item assessments and road maps with a focus on agility and value-based customer outcomes.
Interact with internal architecture and engineering AI/ML SMEs as well as client architecture and engineering team members to stay within guardrails, principles and technical platform constraints.
Be the champion for software, platform and delivery quality, provide guidance and examples of a test-first software delivery culture with meaningful CI/CD feedback loops.
Build high quality software components to support projects within federal, local and state government
Develop groundbreaking technologies which disrupts the legacy world
Perform code reviews and utilize Test Driven Development to ensure a consistently high quality of the codebase
Experience with deployment tools to package and deploy components
Experience in both designing and developing platform components using Java Web Services, JWS/JAX, and Component Based Architectures
Creating and consuming REST APIs, expertise in tools, techniques and frameworks like Hibernate, event-driven architecture, and service orchestration
Database persistence framework experience using JDBC, JPA, JNDI and data source configuration
Ability to effectively communicate issues with the client, team members, team leads and/or project management
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments
Our Systems Engineering team delivers large-scale software applications and integrated systems, and assists clients with architecture design, assessment and optimization, and definition. We develop service-oriented architecture (SOA) and other integration solutions to enable information sharing and management between business partners and disparate processes and systems, and we deliver technology enablement to support CIO services transformation.
Systems Engineering professionals focus on key client issues that impact the core business by maximizing operational value, driving down the cost of quality, and enhancing technology innovation. Our teams deliver a wide range of services, including application architecture design and optimization, application modernization, business process management and solution integration, custom application design and development, and large-scale technology delivery program efforts.
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Active Secret Clearance or higher
15+ years of experience in systems engineering
Experience with Kubernetes, GitOps, ArgoCD, Service Mesh, Jenkins, and Tekton CI is preferred
Experience with Airforce Platform One and DoD DevSecOps Reference Design is preferred
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
