Deloitte SAP ABAP Developer - Aerospace & Defense in Raleigh, North Carolina

Work you'll do/Responsibilities

Communicate regularly with Engagement Managers (Directors), project team members, and representatives from various functional and / or technical teams, including escalating any matters that require additional attention and consideration from engagement management.

Independently and collaboratively lead client engagement workstreams focused on improvement, optimization, and transformation of processes including implementing leading practice workflows, addressing deficits in quality, and driving operational outcomes.

Deliver complex projects in a fast-paced, team environment

Promote and participate in forums for sharing expertise, strengthening Deloitte's collective knowledge, and helping resolve our clients' challenges

Collaborate on innovative solutions to bolster the future of the practice

Develop your knowledge of and gain project experience in SAP's newest and future solutions

The SAP ABAP Developer will design, code, unit test, debug, and implement SAP ABAP applications. The developer is required to deliver innovative, high quality solutions to customers. The SAP ABAP Developer should have strong application development and systems integration experience. This person will adhere to development standards and methodologies. This person will be capable of performing code reviews with peers and be able to recognize good programming techniques and correct coding problems. This position will work as part of a SAP Development team.

Partner with functional teams to review functional specifications and produce technical design specifications

Provide level of effort estimates based on functional specifications or business requirements

Design, code, unit test, debug and implement SAP ABAP applications while working closely with functional teams

Resolve open development issues and make decisions about alternate technical approaches

Proactively provide work status

Follow development standards and methodology

Ensure that documentation is properly maintained

Support the change control process

Conduct code reviews with peers

Support application upgrades

Work Defects

Develop test plans for new or modified programs

Test, debug, implement, and document fixes

Perform issue resolution and root cause analysis

Provide advanced problem solving and technical support, including on-call critical support

Our SAP team focuses on design, implementation, and on-going operations and maintenance of SAP applications and technology. Professionals will have hands-on access and exposure to the latest technologies and thought leaders.

Qualifications

Required

This position will involve access to information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and, due to urgent timelines with immediate placement needs, will require individuals to be U.S. persons. U.S. persons is defined as U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs) and certain classes of protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3) including Asylees and RefugeesBachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline; or equivalent experience

The Developer should have expertise in the following: ABAP/UI5/HTML with BTP and Fiori.

Be familiar with all the latest best practices for S/4 HANA/BTP development.

Strong understanding and implementation experience using the scaled Agile framework (SAFe) methodology

Available to support off-shift system support

Effective communication and problem-solving skills

Ability to work effectively in a team environment, customer support environment and with all levels of the organization

Working knowledge of system development methodology

Working knowledge of the OSS process

Working knowledge of the ABAP development process

Minimum eight years of hands-on experience in developing SAP ABAP applications.

Minimum 5+ years SAP experience in the Defense industry.

Good understanding of performance tuning

Good understanding of CDS, AMDP, Fiori, RAP, CAP and Workflow Integration/OpenText technical knowledge.

Good understanding of dialog programming

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for design, creation and testing of programs

Experience extending SAP standard functionality using ABAP Objects and other modern SAP technologies.

Working knowledge of SAP DIMP primarily in an Aerospace and Defense setting

Workflow skills desired

Developed transactions.

Good understanding of working with large tables.

Strong SQL including complex joins.

Excellent knowledge of commitment control logic (logical unit of work).
