Work you ll do
Deloitte is looking for a Mainframe Hardware Support Specialist to support our client in Boyers, Pennsylvania. Responsibilities will include:
a. Research, evaluate and document the impacts and risks to hardware changes before change implementations are performed.
b. Plan, design, and document installation drawings and configurations.
c. Plan, design, configure, document IBM Mainframe attached storage including Redundant Array of Independent Drives (RAID) Technology Storage Products, Automated/Robotic and Virtual Tape Library (VTL) Systems and FICON.
d. Develop, plan, evaluate, and document cable configurations to include cable diagrams, existing cabling plant, available channeling to include FICON Director and Controller ports and configuration diagrams.
e. Provide support for cable configurations to include pulling cables, existing cabling plant, available channeling to include FICON Director and Controller ports and configuration diagrams.
f. Research, create, review, document, and present channel and device activity reports to ensure optimum use.
g. Research, document, and provide written/oral problem analysis and problem resolution to aid in the identification and resolution of hardware problems.
h. Research, evaluate, create and document air-conditioning requirements
i. Research, plan, document, and deliver channel requirements, environmental requirements to include power, floor tiles, and controller requirements for physical location of systems.
j. Document and provide all schedules, plans, and research documents to the DoD for review and comment.
k. Research, plan, document, and deliver system outage requirements, down time system effects related to hardware upgrades and implementations. Document and deliver recommendations for availability of alternate devices, processes, or solutions to maximize system availability.
