Commercetools Technical Solutions Architect - Senior Consultant
Deloitte Digital offers services that enable client solutions using digital technologies, including the Web, Mobile, Social Networking, Digital Strategy, Digital Content and Digital ERP. The Digital Web team works with clients to advise, design, implement and deploy eCommerce and Portal solutions.
Our eCommerce capabilities provide transactional solutions related to online marketing, sales and service; for both Direct-To-Consumer and Business-to-Business. Our Portal capabilities provide intranet and internet solutions focused on content presentment and transaction capabilities for both internal enterprise as well as customer facing purposes.

Work you'll do
You'll help clients define their requirements by leading and facilitating working sessions to gain an understanding of the client's current state processes and technology in the eCommerce space as well as supporting the implementation that follows. We are looking for a Commercetools developer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming, transitioning seamlessly between platform configuration, and frontend and backend development.
You are responsible for technical leadership and solution architecture for projects involving enterprise applications in Commerce, Merchandizing and Catalog & Content Management systems (CommerceTools or any other API first Commerce solutions like ElasticPath etc.).
Technical leadership, architecture and providing oversight on implementation.
Assessment, recommendation and documentation of current and proposed changes to system and application processes pertaining to the Commerce platform.
Review, propose, document and publish design and coding standards and development processes to ensure high quality of delivery of application software.
Ability to synthesize robust and cost-effective technical solutions against customer requirements; for example, providing buy versus build decision making and high-level architectural recommendations

Strong experience in Java/J2EE and object oriented design principals
Experience with designing data models and familiarity with SQL queries and their optimization
Strong expertise in designing and developing API based systems (REST) and integrations involving (REST/SOAP APIs, Pub/Sub and messaging systems)
7-10 years of strong experience in designing, developing and delivering solutions for large enterprises at scale and collaborating on design with other front end teams
Experience or willing to cross train on any of the API first, headless commerce solutions like CommerceTools, ElasticPath or equivalent Enterprise Commerce platform with specific knowledge of Product Catalog management, Cart, Checkout, CMS, API design/development and integration with third party applications and services)
Experience with multiple commerce implementations on high volume/transaction systems.
Experience with Commerce platform evaluations and migration to new Commerce implementations.
Experience with designing highly performant and scalable applications and skilled in optimizing systems to improve performance.
Great interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to travel 80% (once COVID related travel restrictions are lifted)
Certifications are a plus
Knowledge of server technologies including Linux, Apache, Node.js, Nginx, Ruby on RAILS.
Experience on working with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure or GCP.
Experience working in a professional services firm or working in a client service environment
Experience with Kubernetes and DataStax tools including Cassandra, Solr, DSE Graph, Spark
Understanding of stream-processing software platform like Kafka
