Manager, Sustainability - Climate / GHG
At Deloitte, our Sustainability & ESG Services Team combines CPAs with climate specialists, providing advisory and assurance services for clients on a broad range of climate related projects including quantification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, setting science-based reduction targets, identifying and assessing emission reduction actions, developing net-zero strategies, developing decarbonization roadmaps and more. Our committed team of Deloitte professionals bring industry-specific and valuable climate perspectives to our clients disclosing against established sustainability reporting standards or frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Task Force on Climate- Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), CDP, and the International Integrated Reporting Council Integrated Reporting Framework. They understand evolving climate trends and market forces, why certain climate metrics are important from both a financial and risk perspective and have experience in advising companies as they establish and mature their corporate sustainability journey from initial materiality assessments through target setting and goal achievement.
As a Climate Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for managing and delivering multiple climate related services leveraging support from across Deloitte. Leading with a focus on quality, candidates in the role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
Manage project scope, schedule, and budget; effectively communicate issues and solutions with teams and clients through effective written and verbal communication
Oversee and guide the Deloitte team as they develop strategies, review client data and conduct stakeholder interviews, glean insights, and construct and present deliverables
Lead end-to-end GHG emissions measurement and target setting projects (SBTi & Net Zero) across the full spectrum of Scope 1,2 & 3 emissions, identify and develop abatement strategies and actionable decarbonization insights
Identification of climate risks and opportunities through scenario analysis across multiple time-horizons, deep understanding of RCPs, SSPs and scenario analysis best practices
Deep understanding and demonstrated experience with Science Based Target Setting
Support corporate reporting in line with recognized ESG standards, frameworks and regulatory bodies such as the GHG Protocol, GRI, SASB, TCFD, PCAF, CDP, SEC and CSRD
Identify opportunities for engagement value creation based on a deep understanding of client challenges and an independent point of view
Manage existing client relationships and networks while also independently driving new market opportunities through the end-to-end bid process
Coach and develop the skills and capabilities of project team members to enhance their performance and support them in their career development

Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Energy, Environmental Studies, Business, Sustainability, Economics, Public Policy, Earth Sciences or a related discipline
6+ years of direct professional experience from a top-tier consulting firm, NGO or corporate role with demonstrated project management responsibilities
Demonstrated experience leading climate change related projects, target setting, carbon abatement and scenario analyses along with general sustainability and environmental consulting services
Deep understanding of climate target setting, climate and sustainability related protocols and regulatory frameworks, emissions factors and GHG calculations
Ability to travel 30%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
Preferred:
Strong record of delivering business development and growth in an emerging service line
Sustainability certification (e.g., GRI or SASB's Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting credential a plus) or certified public accountant (CPA) with relevant sustainability experience
Familiarity with ESG ratings (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS, S&P)
Familiarity or experience in any of the following fields is preferred: circular economy, sustainable finance, ESG due diligence, climate scenario analysis, LCA and / or ESG governance.
Experience with International Climate Related Regulations
Sound understanding of climate risks across various industry sectors
Experience with Data Analytics, Basic Scientific Software Programming, data visualization, technical communications and data driven decision support
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, including leading teams and managing projects through budget analysis, status reporting and issue management
Experience applying standards, procedures, and processes to implement management system and/or regulatory requirements
Ability to think laterally and adapt previous experience and solutions to new projects
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team and environment
Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders, including C-Suite executives and industry leaders
Experience working independently on multiple assignments or engagements, even in a virtual environment
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,900 - $214,500.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
