Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Manager in Parsippany, NJ.

Work You ll Do

Responsible for providing tax research and analyses for clients in diverse industries. Oversee day-to-day client service relationships and provide tax services to help improve compliance and maintain client s overall tax risk profile. Work closely with clients and provide managerial support to members of the Deloitte Tax team in order to understand each organization s global goals and strategies and analyze how industry and economic trends affect the business. Oversee the delivery of tax planning services including preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns. Responsible for keeping up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues, analyzing the client's business and tax systems, taking responsibility for clearing open items relating to assigned areas, and meeting client deadlines. Oversee the preparation of tax work papers and tax returns including extensions, estimates, and tax provisions. Coordinate data gathering with various functions, gather data electronically and at the appropriate level of detail, and review data for completeness. Integrate data collection, reviewing client financials, calculating preliminary taxable income and various tax return items, and reviewing and signing off on tentative taxable income. Manage, motivate, coach, train, and mentor junior staff and seniors. Contribute to the development and testing of new internal tools by the firm to deliver efficient work to clients. Understand firm operations and engagement cycle, including initial data gathering, addressing issues, planning budgets and timelines, and delegating work to appropriate professionals to ensure deadlines are met and quality work is delivered to client.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Business Administration or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).

  • Five years of experience providing tax planning services and preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.

  • Experience must include five years of:

  • Managing the preparation of and reviewing C and S-Corporations' and Partnerships' federal and state tax return filings and quarterly estimated tax for large, U.S.-based multinational companies;

  • Utilizing tax software, including OneSource, GoSystem, and Corptax, for preparation of federal, state and local, and international income tax returns and quarterly estimated tax, and various informational reporting filings for domestic and foreign entities;

  • Utilizing tax research tools, including LexisNexis, BNA, and CCH, to research complex tax issues and draft tax technical memorandum;

  • Managing the preparation and reviewing quarterly and annual provisions in accordance with ASC 740;

  • Performing analysis for uncertain tax positions, effective tax rate reconciliation, as well as preparing deferred tax asset and liabilities and valuation allowance, to properly account for income tax provisions for business entities;

  • Auditing income tax provisions and financial statement disclosures, and testing internal controls for publicly traded companies; and

  • Managing clients' Internal Revenue Service and state revenue department examinations, responding to Information Document Requests (IDRs) and audit requests, and drafting memos to analyze IDRs and various tax notices.

  • Experience must include three years of:

  • Providing tax compliance and consulting services to companies operating in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences, and Power & Utilities industries;

  • Assisting clients in tax planning of business transactions involving mergers, acquisitions, divestures, and corporate restructurings; and

  • Developing client relationships, performing pre-engagement planning, execution, and final deliverable development.

  • In the alternative, the employer is willing to accept a Master's degree and 3 years of experience as stated above.

  • Position requires approximately 20% travel.
