Product and Commercial Strategy Manager, Deloitte New Venture Accelerator
Deloitte New-venture Accelerator (DNA) was created by Deloitte, LLP to identify, build and scale a portfolio of hybrid businesses that combine Deloitte s market leading professional services with IP-based products (e.g. software, data, analytics, tools). DNA partners with the core Functions (Consulting, Risk & Financial Advisory, Tax, Audit) to identify these IP-based inorganic / organic investment opportunities and develop strategies to deliver them.
The ideal DNA Product & Commercial Strategy Manager candidate will be a strategist who comes alive solving complex problems in the most cutting-edge domains, who can also work with product teams to advise and translate insights into roadmaps and client outcomes The position s mandate will be twofold:
The Manager in this role will have two equal and complementary goals 1) shape firm-level strategy on where and how Deloitte should commercialize hybrid opportunities and 2) lead and advise to develop and mature product management capabilities in Deloitte s portfolio of hybrid businesses. The Manager will work closely with DNA and Business Unit / Functional leaders to identify, assess, evaluate and execute on hybrid business opportunities that are complementary to Deloitte s core service offerings. With guidance from DNA and Firm senior management, the Manager will lead teams in utilizing market-in and external customer-led analyses in the development of end-to-end commercial strategies to monetize IP/product-based top-line growth opportunities, as well as operational efforts to execute and grow hybrid businesses within Deloitte. The Manager will do this by utilizing market research approaches that leverage the Lean Start-up Customer Development approach by engaging in hands-on market testing (interviews, surveys, etc.) to design and shape growth strategy, as well as evaluate and inform build/buy/partner analyses and acquisition opportunities. In addition to managing the team and leading day to day execution against the project plan, the Manager will be expected to help scope the engagement, develop work plans, and raise project risks. Additionally, the Manager will nurture and develop junior team members and oversee their day-to-day project execution. Additionally, the role will also serve as a Product Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) to pollinate, mature and develop product management capabilities within Deloitte s hybrid businesses. These capabilities include, but are not limited to, product strategy and roadmap development, product lifecycle management, product marketing, MRD/PRD development, product launch planning and competitive and market trend monitoring.
Commercial Strategy Responsibilities:
Lead market-led strategy development projects end-to-end, including scoping, defining objectives, developing work plans, first line review on process and deliverables, coordinating activities between work streams, and identifying/elevating risks and changes in scope
Direct and coordinate work of project team members on all technical aspects including data analysis, research, survey design and analysis, survey targeting strategy, panel development, hypothesis development, customer interactions and deliverable development
Lead market and customer outreach, by conducting customer and SME interviews to assess needs, pain points, demand, willingness to pay / value, usage, fit in client workflows and value chains, competitive positioning, etc.
Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and generate hypotheses
First level review on all deliverables (market research instruments and interim/final presentations)
Guide storyboarding to effectively synthesize findings into leadership-level business recommendations; summarize and present recommendations to senior leadership
Work with business case and finance teams to communicate market findings and build/stress-test revenue, ramp, penetration, retention, usage and cost assumptions
Product Strategy Responsibilities: ( Serve as Product Management SME and advisor to hybrid businesses to develop and mature the following capabilities)
Product strategy and roadmap development
MRDs and PRDs definition with prioritized features and corresponding justification
Process improvement to improve feedback loops between development, delivery and client
Market and competitive landscape monitoring
Develop the core positioning and messaging for hybrid solutions and relation to sales value communication tools
Product pricing, deal structuring and contracting
Keep all relevant stakeholders and leadership apprised of project status / risks and implement mitigation strategies as appropriate
Identify and attend relevant industry events to get direct market feedback
Build, lead and maintain a strong Commercial Insights team within DNA including counseling, coaching and development of team members
Act as a key internal liaison with other groups within the Firm and across the industry to enable successful commercialization of products and solutions at Deloitte
