Employer Health Manager

Work you ll do

As a Deloitte Consulting Employer Health Manager in the Rewards practice of Deloitte s Human Capital group, you will assist Deloitte Senior Managers and Partners in providing strategic and technical employee benefit consulting services to plan sponsors (e.g., employers, municipal governments, health & welfare funds, etc.). In addition to applying these skills in traditional settings, you will provide advisory services related to these issues in mergers and acquisitions, governance and risk management, enterprise cost reduction efforts, and other transformational business initiatives. Other responsibilities may include:

Conduct employee benefits diagnostic/planning studies

Assist with preparing managed care plan design and pricing studies

Help conduct competitive vendor search and selection initiatives

Assistant with preparing financial projections and COBRA rate development

Review health plan performance, including reviewing and negotiating policy year settlements and premium rate/administrative fee renewals

Assistant in preparing client presentations and reports

Conduct other general health & welfare consulting activities, as required

In addition to serving plan sponsors, other project work can include working with payers and providers in such projects as HMO risk and value analysis, provider network development, operational claim reviews, etc.

Our consultants work collaboratively with clients to develop competitive rewards programs so that they can recruit and retain talent effectively. In addition to applying these skills in traditional settings, our consultants provide advisory services related to these issues in mergers and acquisitions, governance and risk management, enterprise cost reduction efforts, and other transformational business initiatives. Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 6 years of employer health experience

  • Experience reviewing health plan performance

  • Experience preparing financial/budget projections

  • Ability to lead and direct staff

  • Willingness to travel up to 80%

Preferred:

  • 4 years of experience in a consulting firm

  • 6 years of experience with employer health experience

  • Experience managing mid-to-large sized teams

  • Technical background in underwriting and other areas of health care finance

  • Strong understanding of health care plan design and alternative delivery systems, including consumer directed health plans with HRAs and HSAs

  • Knowledge (plan design and pricing) of other health & welfare benefit plans (e.g., life, disability, dental, etc.)

  • Strong client presence

  • Technical background in underwriting and other areas of health care finance

  • Ability to work well in team-based environment

  • Project management, presentation, and facilitation skills

  • Well-organized with the ability to handle several projects/clients simultaneously

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Ability to work independently and develop client relationships

  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to client service excellence

  • Flexibility to periodically serve out of town clients for an extended period of time
