Visual Designer, Office of the CTOEmerging Technology Research Team (Enabling Consultant)

The mission of the Deloitte Consulting Technology s Office of the CTO (OCTO) is to sense, research, and champion emerging technologies while deepening our reputation, relationship, and engagement with our clients technology executives. We are currently seeking a visual designer to support the Office of the CTO s Emerging Technology Research Team.

What you ll do

  • Work as part of an internal team that is virtual and multi-disciplinary (CTO of Deloitte Consulting, senior manager, senior designer, writers, technical architects, marketing, etc.) on projects of variable scope, complexity, and length

  • Concept and create aesthetically pleasing, effective, and audience-aware infographics, presentations, print pieces, custom illustrations, process diagrams, graphs and charts, icons, and other collateral

  • Act as the lead or contributing designer on projects with oversight from design lead

  • Understand the role of design in accomplishing team initiatives

  • Explain your decisions to non-designers

  • Maintain design best practices and contribute to improving team workflows

  • Work within set deadlines and estimate the level of effort for design tasks

  • Utilize your advanced communication skills to get the information you need and keep the team apprised of project status

  • Seek out opportunities to learn more about your craft and the world around you and share insights with your team

The Team

Within the Office of the CTO, the Emerging Tech Research team is responsible for positioning Deloitte s understanding of and credibility with emerging technologies. We achieve this by researching and developing flagship thought leadership pieces such as Tech Trends and a variety of materials for client meetings. We also support the development of internal tools to keep our practitioners at the forefront of emerging technologies.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of related design experience

  • Well-rounded knowledge of design principles and techniques

  • Expertise in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop

  • Expertise in PowerPoint and Keynote

  • Understanding of basic data visualization principles

  • Understanding of primary and secondary research process and correct attribution

  • Ability to translate brain dumps into appropriate, creative visuals and quickly iterate

  • Ability to accept and implement feedback with precision to improve your work

  • Ability to meet deadlines in an environment with shifting priorities and busy stakeholders

  • Ability to identify and procure information and resources needed to complete a task

  • Ability to join a project during any stage of its lifecycle

  • Ability to work in a variety of styles and incorporate branding

  • Strong attention to detail, consistency across channels and platforms, version control

  • Interest in emerging technologies

  • Self-directed and ability to work independently

  • Comfortable working in a virtual environment

  • Ability to actively engage with content and colleagues and establish a personal brand within a virtual team and navigate the larger global firm

  • Expert written and verbal communication skills

Bonus points

  • Skills in D3, Tableau, or other data visualization software

  • Familiarity with motion tools like Adobe After Effects

  • Knowledge of interface design
