Work You ll Do
Responsible for providing tax research and analyses for clients in diverse industries; assist with the delivery of tax planning services, including preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns; responsible for keeping up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues, analyzing the client's business and tax systems, taking responsibility for clearing open items relating to assigned areas, and meeting client deadlines; assist with the preparation of tax work papers and tax returns including extensions, estimates, and tax provisions; coordinate data gathering with various functions, gather data electronically and at the appropriate level of detail, and review data for completeness; integrate data collection, reviewing client financials, calculating preliminary taxable income and various tax return items, and reviewing and signing off on tentative taxable income; provide day-to-day client service relationships and serve as the gateway to a variety of specialized tax services that can help improve compliance with taxing entities while maintaining each client s overall tax risk profile; provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and individual clients; identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates; and mentor and coach junior team members and escalate issues when necessary. Will commute within the New York, NY area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.
Bachelor's (or higher) degree in accounting, business administration, finance, taxation or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
Eighteen months of experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
Experience must include eighteen months of:
Reviewing domestic and foreign bank returns, complex consolidated returns, and state and local returns;
Preparing and reviewing PFIC (Passive Foreign Investment Corporation) statements, Form 1120, Form 1120-F, Form 5471, Form 5472, Form 1065 and Form 8926 for US investors;
Calculating and reviewing Section 1.882-5 interest expense and Section 1.861-8 Home office expense;
Preparing and reviewing bank tax workpapers used for calculating taxable income for foreign banking clients;
Researching banking regulations using IntelliNet, Bloomberg, and Lexis;
Utilizing tax software, including GoSystem and OneSource to provide tax compliance services to clients;
Preparing, reviewing, and auditing tax provisions for inclusion in private financial statements; and
Mentoring and coaching junior team members, including conducting internal trainings on industry specifics and technical audits.
Less than 10% travel outside of normal commuting distance.
