TheCenteris a source for up-to-the-minute insights and deep analysis onthe most important issues facing senior-level decision-makers within TMT today.The Center, which publishes 50 plus pieces a year, is staffed by professionalswho bring a wide array of expertise from academic to professional to hands-onexperience. When it comes to insight, what really matters is not just thequality of the idea, but also how to translate it into action.
DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
As a key member of the Center s research team,theResearch Managerwill help to craft a research agendato address the most pressing challenges of today s Telecommunications leaders. Then,research, write, or coordinate in-depth research reports, case studies,articles, podcasts, or blog posts, etc. which integrate information from a widerange of primary and secondary sources, including surveys, third-party researchand databases, presentations, industry commentaries, and news articles. Finally,the Research Manager will work with client service professionals to helpamplify the ideas of this research in the marketplace via client presentations,speaking engagements, social media and other efforts.
May require travel to attend client meetings,conferences, and/or training sessions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with practice leadership and other teams (marketing professionals, public relations, etc.) to develop a thought leadership agenda
Develop thought leadership focused on Telecommunications
Lead research projects based on both primary and secondary research, including advanced analytic techniques, such as predictive analytics, data mining, text mining, and/or sentiment analysis
Build effective working relationships with subject matter experts within the firm and the external marketplace, and conducts effective interviews
Help articles reach their intended audience through a variety of methods from speaking engagements and client workshops to social media
Manage timelines and project deliverables with internal stakeholders and outside vendors to create quality, on-time thought leadership
Organize and manage research project workflow to achieve project milestones
Master's degree/MBA an advantage
At least 6 years professional experience in and/or writing about the telecommunications industry
Excellent writing skills; a deep track record in publishing (press, academic journals, or business thought leadership) is required
Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills; ability to think creatively and solve research problems
Strong interpersonal skills and comfort in conducting both formal and unstructured interviews with senior leaders in the industry
Exposure to analytical/statistical methods and interpretation of statistical results
Strong candidates will also be familiar with data visualization software, such as Tableau, MarketSight or more general purpose programming languages such as Python
Strong technical understanding of howtelecommunications technology works: 4G, 5G, etc. and a strong understanding ofthe business side of telcos
Knowledge of, and relationships with, key leadersand influencers in the industry
Experience and comfort operating in a matrixedorganization
Strong writing and research skills
Passionate about developing "ahead of the curve" provocative thinking, delivering results, and achieving success
Previous project management experience
Self-starter, independent thinker and resourceful, and abile to work with distributed team members when necessary
Strong people skills with an ability to shape/influence the strategic thinking of senior telco executives on emerging issues/trends
Excellent presentation skills
Enjoys visibility with key media groups and is successful at positioning findings in those groups
Collegial and team-oriented in approach
Builds relationships and credibility with internal clients by demonstrating consultative skills that generate demand for projects that are aligned with firm and Center priorities
Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
