What you ll do

As an Automation Configuration Senior Manager in our Customs and Global Trade practice, you will help companies understand national and international trade requirements and align the trade function with business objectives; you will help clients achieve more efficient global trade management and benefit from opportunities for cost savings through a multidisciplinary approach to global trade that includes customs and export consulting, international tax, value added tax, logistics, transfer pricing, and supply chain consulting. Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Working with clients to assess and potentially automate their automation configurations.

  • Helping importers and exporters achieve worldwide compliance and realize efficiencies and advantages in their global supply chain.

  • Advising U.S. and foreign multinational companies on global import and export strategies and compliance.

  • Working with global teams worldwide.

  • Mentoring staff and leading engagements.

  • Building relationships and maintaining a book of business for future clients.

The team

Our Customs and Global Trade practice is a national practice within Deloitte Tax LLP's International Tax business, and advises U.S. and foreign multinational companies on global import and export strategies, compliance, and trade automation. The Customs and Global Trade practice is composed of attorneys, operations experts, customs brokers, auditors, and trade management professionals who help importers and exporters achieve worldwide compliance and realize efficiencies and advantages in their global supply chain. The group works with clients to assess and potentially automate their international trade management procedures within all major trading regions.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8 years of import and export experience with minimum of 2 years of automation experience configuring and implementing global trade management software solutions such as SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS), Oracle Global Trade Management (Oracle GTM), Management Dynamics, or Vastera

  • Participation in one fulllifecycle implementation

  • Automation project experience working with SAP, Oracle, and other enterprise resource planning systems, and knowledge of their related connections to global trade management software

  • Experience with U.S. export regulations

  • Bachelor s degree in a business-related field

  • Prior Big 4 experience

  • Advanced knowledge of import and export regulations including ITAR and EAR

  • Advanced knowledge of customs regulations including valuation, classification, and special trade programs

  • Business management and financial leadership experience indicating strong ability to plan and manage budgets, financials, etc.

  • Experience leading and managing project teams

  • Ability to proactively develop internal and external relationships and effectively speak to export compliance issues

  • Ability to grow a book of business

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple, competing priorities; and a self-starter

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex process/product flows and identify the resulting global trade implications

  • Successful project management experience indicating strong organizational skills as well as data management/analysis experience

  • Strong capabilities in research, writing, communications, and presentations

  • Aptitude in MS Project, Word, Excel, and Visio

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred

  • Advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, JD, or LLM

  • For SAP-focused candidates, a background configuring SAP Sales and Distribution, Material Master, and/or Foreign Trade/GTS modules, or other R/3 and ECC experience

  • For Oracle-focused candidates, a background configuring Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) or Oracle EBS experience

  • Working knowledge of non-U.S. export control

  • U.S. Customs broker license

  • Foreign language skills

  • Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer(CUSECO) or Certified ITAR Professional(CIP)
