Deloitte Audit & Assurance Project Lead in New York, New York

The successful completion of a quality audit is top of mind for the Audit Project Lead (APL). As an Audit Project Lead, you will drive the audit to the finish line by keeping practitioners "armed" with the information they need and ensure smooth execution of the audit. You will have a "big picture" perspective as a result of the synergies you create across the entire engagement and collaborative relationships you will form with national organizations (e.g., quality, talent, operations, transformation). With insight into the specific audit objectives, you will bring value to engagement leaders in navigating client relationships, audit progress, and operational performance.

In this role, you will be equipped with the resources needed to tactically plan and execute the audit and, as a member of the project leader organization, you will drive consistency throughout the practice. Having been immersed in Deloitte's audit culture, you will be able to leverage your functional knowledge to best lead your teams. Also, you will collaborate with other members of team leadership by offering a consultative lens on team communications, leadership connectivity and development, coaching and mentoring, resource management, and talent retention strategies.

The APL has extensive experience with project management, developing relationships and understanding how to effectively communicate with our clients and audit professionals. On a daily basis, they are able to balance their responsibilities as leaders, motivators, mentors, and learners. At the same time, they maintain an executive presence and poise that harmoniously emulates Deloitte's brand, which is defined by the high-quality audit and assurance services delivered.

  • Fluent in project management practices and methodologies

  • Have demonstrated success in project management for complex and concurrent projects in a matrix management environment

  • Have demonstrated success using project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban

  • Experience organizing, developing and managing detailed project plans

  • Have significant experience using project management methods and software tools

  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in delivery of new products or services

  • Ability to create compelling positioning/messaging strategy and present complex information concisely through written/verbal communication

  • Advanced people leadership skills and being able to confidently engage with senior leaders in the firm

  • Ability to challenge the status quo, and to identify untapped opportunities and alternate approaches

  • Creative problem-solving and ability to work with ambiguity

  • Drive for quick results with a vision of long-term strategy

  • Project Management Certification (PMP) or New Product Development Professional (NPDP) certification

  • Experience of computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications

  • Experience working with remote and geographically distributed teams


  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) is a plus

  • Experience driving/leading Scaled Agile transformation efforts desired

  • Baseline understanding of Deloitte's overall functional capabilities including audit's service offerings, leading innovative tools and techniques, and audit process/methodologies

  • 6+ years of accounting or auditing experience

  • Strong systems and application delivery ability
