Lead Accounting AnalystLocation:Hermitage, Tennessee Team OverviewThe Expatriate Accounting team is part of International Accounting within Deloitte s Financial Services Group (FSG). Expatriate Accounting provides support to the U.S. Firms through planning, forecasting, and reporting of financial information, billing assignment costs; administer compensation and allowances; and analysis of the tax position for the expatriate program. The Expatriate Tax Analysis team is responsible for accounting for all expatriate, and some cross border, related U.S. and Foreign taxes. The Tax Analysis team processes periodic tax accruals, tax equalization settlements, final tax cost true up invoices/credits with member firms, and manages the non-equalized tax escrow-withholding program. The Expatriate Tax Analysis team is also responsible for the creation of assignment tax cost projections (CP), which is an estimation of expat assignment related tax costs. The team collaborates with Global Mobility, Global Employment Services (GES), and Deloitte Member Firms to manage the compensation and tax issues for our expatriates. PRIMARY DUTIES:Prepare Cost Projection calculations to estimate the tax costs associated with tax-equalized expat assignments.Manage the U.S. and Foreign tax remittances to the appropriate tax authority direct payment, reimbursement to the Member Firm, or as a cash advance to the expat.Monitor foreign taxes to ensure completeness and work with the appropriate U.S. and Member Firm teams to resolve any issues.Analyze U.S. and Foreign tax costs to tax estimates, perform in-depth variance analysis, trend analysis, and identify possible tax reporting errors. Review and process tax equalization settlements for our outbound expatriates. Manage any amount due to/due from the expat. Process periodic tax accruals and settle assignment related tax costs, with the funding parties, when the assignment is finalized.Manage non-equalized expatriates foreign taxes; obtain tax estimates from the respective Member Firm, establish escrow accounts, and payroll withholdings, and settle outstanding balances.Develop and display a strong understanding of the Deloitte mobility policies, accounting standards, and tax treatment of all activity related to the expatriate population.Analyze transactional activity and develop various reports to meet Deloitte s reporting needs/requirements.Perform various special projects on an as needed basis.Develop creative solutions to solve problems and meet varying business needs.Understand the policies that affect expatriates. Create consistent but flexible processes, establish process standards, develop process controls supported by periodic audits, identify and implement process improvements to support the tax process.
