Deloitte Business Tax Services Senior Manager - Federal/Corporate Tax in Nashville, Tennessee

Work you'll do:

As a Tax Senior Manager, you will you will identify eligible R&D activities and prepare effective supporting documentation. You will assist clients with identifying and documenting positions related to R&D tax credits and deductions. As a crucial lead member of the Gi3 team, you will participate in the business development of the Gi3 practice by generating new clients/business. In addition, you will oversee the development of other tax professionals while maintaining important client relationships.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing federal credits and incentives opportunities including research and development tax credit/deduction analyses, Section 199 deduction engagements, and other federal credit incentive engagements

  • Leveraging your extensive technical skills developed through your reputation in a given industry/service offering to solve complex issues

  • Demonstrating sound judgement and instincts with respect to evaluating complex scenarios involving federal incentives and deductions

  • Developing, mentoring, and motivating Managers, Senior and Consultants, providing counseling and career guidance

  • Leading new business development opportunities

    National Federal Tax Services (NFTS) is a national practice within Deloitte Tax LLP made up of several tax service offerings. Each NFTS service offering has been developed and built as a result of a tax planning idea, marketplace needs, or a technological innovation - all with the purpose of delivering results for our clients. NFTS service lines provide tax planning and compliance support for the largest organizations across all industries.

    The Global Investment & Innovation Incentives (Gi3) tax team is a national team of specialists dedicated to providing comprehensive tax credit and incentive services, including the Research and Development credit, the New Market Tax Credit, Qualified Opportunity Zones, Renewable Energy tax credits, and other federal credits. These benefits are offered for activities conducted in the United States, as well as research performed in over 30 other countries that offer research incentives.



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, engineering, technology, or related field

  • 8+ years of experience in core federal tax compliance

  • Proven knowledge of R&D tax incentives experience and/or experience with New Markets Tax Credits, Qualified Opportunity Zones, or Renewable Energy tax credits

  • Travel up to 60%

  • At least one of the following Accreditations:

    o Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office

    o Licensed attorney

    o Enrolled Agent

    o PE (Professional Engineer)


  • Big 4 experience

  • Advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, LLM, or JD

  • Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

  • Proven track record of building and maintaining a book of business

  • Demonstrated effective research, and verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and work objectives

  • Ability to participate in all aspects of engagement strategic planning initiatives

  • Strong project management and organizational skills
