Deloitte Senior Network Engineer (Top Secret Required) in Monterey, California

Senior Network Engineer

Work you ll do

Seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) in Seaside, California. We are looking for a candidate with experience architecting, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network components within a high availability enterprise environment. The candidate will collaborate with other technical SMEs to gain insight and consensus and ultimately a path toward solving diverse technical challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform as a Lead Network Engineer in working with staff to guide, direct, and mentor them including oversight of day to day work activities.

  • Provide expert judgement in determining and approving network customization efforts to routers, switches, and F5 products; perform these functions within a large-scale data center environment.

  • Support production environments including their respective development and test environments on a 24x7x365 basis.

  • Lead the maintenance of Cisco products including performing analysis and tuning and special projects such as creating new networks, subnets, VLANs, and VoIP Networks.

  • Analyze network performance and capacity and undertake performance improvements.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of switching methodology and routed/ routing protocols.

  • Perform tasks within with TCP/IP Windows / UNIX networking environment.

  • Apply software patches in predefined maintenance windows in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and organizational security policies and procedures.

  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) of performance issues that affect the reliability, recoverability, availability, and accessibility of systems and applications.

  • Follow prescribed change management procedures for all configuration changes.

  • Perform and document all work through the enterprise ticketing system, ensuring appropriate communication with all customers and other stakeholders, and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.

  • Experience with: Cisco Firewall, Cisco IP Routing, Cisco VPN.

Our Systems Engineering team delivers large-scale software applications and integrated systems, and assists clients with architecture design, assessment and optimization, and definition. We develop service-oriented architecture (SOA) and other integration solutions to enable information sharing and management between business partners and disparate processes and systems, and we deliver technology enablement to support CIO services transformation.

Systems Engineering professionals focus on key client issues that impact the core business by maximizing operational value, driving down the cost of quality, and enhancing technology innovation. Our teams deliver a wide range of services, including application architecture design and optimization, application modernization, business process management and solution integration, custom application design and development, and large-scale technology delivery program efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Top Secret Clearance

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

  • Over ten years of experience maintaining networks and experience working in a datacenter environment.

  • Experience serving as a lead of a team larger than ten network engineers.

  • Experience managing networks within a virtualized environment and an understanding of SDDC concepts.

  • Experience with Cisco 6500, AnyConnect VPN, F5, VoIP, Nexus 5000, 7000, Check Point, Cisco CSM, MARS, ASA. Additional knowledge and experience with VLAN, VTP, STP, TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, SMTP, ICMP, RIP, IGRP, OSPF, EIGRP.

  • Experience supporting the US military, Department of Defense (DoD), or military-industrial complex as a service member, civilian, contractor, or consultant

  • Cisco or similar certification

  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Oracle OEM.
