Work you ll do
As an HR Specialist or HR Assistant in the Human Capital group you will:
Support best practices while taking ownership of tasks and/or project workstreams
Support and/or lead workstreams on engagements
Contribute to deliverables and review the work of others for quality and accuracy
Demonstrate an understanding of the client environment and overall project scope

Lead HR Specialist or HR Assistant (Position Classification) *Washington, DC Only
Asa Lead HR Specialist, HR Specialist, or HR Assistant (Staffing & Placement) , responsibilities include tasks such as:
Monitor and manage job announcements based on business manager requests or changes to timeline, maintain and track applicant data in agency-specific systems
Conduct and document job analysis as directed, consult on the applicant assessment strategy, document priority consideration to candidates, as well as candidates' eligibility for veterans' preference
Determine/verify minimum qualification requirements for all candidates by way of resume and document review, etc.and that experience is in accordance with OPM qualification standards.
Coordinate interviews, hiring recommendations with stakeholders, provide technical guidance to selecting officials on how to conduct an interview, prepare the certificates of eligible candidates and provide it to the government for review and approval
Audit certificates, extend conditional job offers, respond to applicant inquiries from job announcements, maintain documentation in accordance to OPM's records retention requirements and initiate & conduct all onboarding activities and set Entry on Duty (EOD date)
As an HR Specialist or HR Assistant (PAR Processing) , responsibilities include tasks such as:
Processing personnel action requests through the use of various federal and agency-specific systems & platforms, applying decision logic to determine the correct nature of action code and processes steps to each
Applying seasoned judgement past experience toward developing new approaches
Providing advice and consultation to managers and employees on all phases of the recruitment and staffing, and the interview and selection process; and recommend innovative methods to resolve job turnover, workforce planning, downsizing, etc.
Analyzing, modifying and adapting systems to solve a variety of compensation conditions by applying comprehensive knowledge of policies and regulations. Monitoring compensation data and analyzing trends and their significance to ongoing client programs and operations
Advising and assisting employees, managers and supervisors on grievance procedures and appropriate options for proper resolution of conflicts or problems
As Lead HR Specialist or HR Assistant (Position Classification ) , responsibilities include tasks such as:
Review position descriptions in accordance with OPM classification standards to determine the appropriate title, series, and grade
Prepares action plan and conducts audits with employees and managers in response to requests for position review and classification appeals
Interprets and explains classification criteria, and prepare and/or presents advisory opinions on the classification of positions, the classification process, and position management considerations; assists with classification analyses and surveys
coordinates with appropriate personnel to research position structures in support of reorganizations and reclassifications, as needed, application of new classification standards, consistency reviews, and other surveys for program review and oversight.
Record the appropriate Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) assignment; position sensitivity level, and ensure all required codes are annotated on position descriptions
Conduct quality checks of position descriptions to ensure accurate classification determination prior to submission to the government for signature
Plan and review organizational change requests and provide input on classification and position management implications
Provide guidance to managers, as required, in classifying or reclassifying unique positions, providing authoritative advice and guidance to government hiring managers as needed
Draft evaluation statements, and prepare documentation, as needed, to substantiate classification decisions
Review and reclassify legacy position descriptions, when necessary, in compliance with current classification standards, policies

The client issues we work with range from the need for a comprehensive HR strategy to determining the need for new and enabling technologies, to streamlining HR operations and transforming the way HR is delivered.
Two or more years of relevant experience with 2 or more of those years in federal human resources and position classification (including Title 5 classification requirements) and organizational management experience
Bachelor s Degree
Knowledge of a wide range of federal HR concepts, classification concepts, practices, laws, regulations and policies
Experience applying Human Resource principles, federal HR laws, regulations, and policies relating to position classification, position management and organizational design concepts
Experience conducting and synthesizing research information into actionable information
Ability to work independently
Ability to manage small engagements or work streams and multiple team members with confidence
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising mature judgement
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization
Experience producing and presenting reports to executives

Must be able to work full time from one of the following locations:
Kansas City, MO
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
Ability to obtain and maintain the required clearance for this role
DE Certification (Delegated Examining Unit) highly desired
Prior professional services or federal consulting experience
