Cost Segregation Practice Consultant Position

We are seeking individuals at the Consultant level to join our practice. Candidates should have the ability to listen to, understand and incorporate client needs and objectives into work plans and to execute the work. The candidate should also have the ability to participate in client service teams performing tasks with some oversight and supervision. Our goal is to provide a variety of experiences that will allow you to learn and understand our practice.

Work you ll do

Our Cost Segregation professionals advise organizations through critical transactions and business events related to the capital asset life cycle. You will have the opportunity to work on multiple project opportunities which may include:

Conducting engineering-focused tax planning studies for newly constructed or acquired assets

Assisting with researching various technical and industry specific issues

Researching market issues and identifying market opportunities

Spending time on site with clients, getting an opportunity to see projects and assets first-hand

Helping our clients to increase accountability and transparency throughout the asset management lifecycle

Providing financial advisory assistance in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and financial restructurings

Participating in team problem solving efforts and offer ideas to solve client issues

Maintaining responsibility for completion and accuracy of work products

Assisting in proposal development, as requested

Actively expanding consulting skills and professional development through training courses, mentoring, and daily interaction with clients

The team

Our team provides services related to our clients capital investments in fixed assets and capital projects. We assist clients in identifying ways to quickly recover capital investments and to, potentially, minimize federal, state and local taxes, whether the investments are new construction, renovations of existing facilities or asset acquisitions. Through the application of our understanding of current IRS and local-specific regulations, rulings, and tax court cases and, when appropriate, consultation with Deloitte Tax LLP professionals, we seek to assist our clients in maximizing depreciation or amortization benefits of project capital costs. Our team has performed cost segregation studies, investment tax studies, property tax exemption studies, energy tax studies, rehabilitation tax studies, purchase price allocations, financial reporting capitalization studies on projects that range from hundreds of thousands to several billion dollars.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor s degree with preferred majors including Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field of study

Familiarity with reading blueprints

Demonstrated leadership and strong verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills

Experience prioritizing tasks, working on multiple assignments and managing ambiguity

Experience working independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Travel required

Primary home office Los Angeles

Preferred:

Strong academic track record

1 years of industry related experience

Experience in estimating

Knowledge of construction or engineering methods and terminology

Familiarity with AIA G702/703 documentation and invoices

Previous Professional Services Firm or Big 4 experience

Currently certified as a PE, ASA, CCSP, or PMP

Master s Degree
