Deloitte Consulting LLP seeks a Senior Solution Specialist, Core Business Operations, Systems Engineering in Lake Mary, FL and various unanticipated Deloitte office locations and client sites nationally.
Work You ll Do
Designing, implementing, and operating solutions for custom-developed systems, platform integration, and application modernization to enable core business capabilities. Directing large technology engagements and participating in projects including ideation, identification, planning and cost estimation through requirements, design, development, testing, implementation and production. Performing assessments of existing information systems, and identifying gaps between business requirements and current system capabilities. Estimating time and resources needed for the development work. Functioning as integrators between business needs and technology solutions, helping to create technology solutions to meet clients business needs. Defining systems strategy, developing system requirements, processing design, prototyping, and testing custom technology solutions, and supporting system implementation. Creating test cases and performing functional, non-functional, system integration, black-box, white-box, and end-to-end testing of software applications. Creating project charters, schedules, and plans, defining project tasks, allocating resources and monitoring project progress. Researching user reported issues, identifying root causes and resolutions, implementing fixes, and liaising between business functions, end users, and technical delivery teams. Creating technical and functional specifications, including screen layouts, navigation flows, logic diagrams, data models, process models, and pseudo code, to be used for application development. Writing functional and technical system requirements and use cases, creating process flow diagrams and finalizing system requirements. Performing conceptual and technical designs, including the use of object-oriented analysis and design techniques. Tracking application defects using defect tracking tools, coordinating defect resolution efforts, and documenting resolution details. Identifying and recording key deadlines for the workstream in the client engagement to ensure clear communication, organization, and coordination between multiple parties, and constructing a work plan around them that will quickly and effectively achieve client goals whilst also allowing for reasonable work time and unexpected delays or pivots. Creating clear, effective, and detailed deliverable content, including written, visual, and oral deliverables, which are informed by research, analytics, and client meetings. Presenting content that addresses client needs in solutioning sessions to drive toward a decision, and validating that decision with client leadership to drive the company s growth and progress. Developing Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL) programs, Programming Language One (PL/1) programs, and DB2 stored procedures to implement and integrate Mainframe application systems. Creating technical design documents that specify needed changes to the COBOL programs, Job Control Language, IMS and DB2 Databases, and Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM) files. Performing unit and integration testing in System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) regions to verify operational reliability of systems. Scheduling jobs in the production environment using Control - M to modify batch job flow. Creating Structured Query Language (SQL) queries for accessing DB2 tables (Relational Databases). Creating COBOL to DLI calls to access IMS Databases (Hierarchal Databases). Performing Root Cause Analysis for production issues including job abends and inaccurate results, and providing fixes.
Bachelor s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), CIS, MIS or a related field.
Two years of experience in the offered position or a position in a related occupation.
Must have two years of experience with:
Developing COBOL programs, PL/1 programs, and DB2 stored procedures to implement and integrate Mainframe application systems;
Creating technical design documents that specify needed changes to the COBOL programs, Job Control Language, IMS and DB2 Databases, and VSAM files;
Performing unit and integration testing in SIT and UAT regions to verify operational reliability of systems;
Scheduling jobs in the production environment using Control - M to modify batch job flow;
Creating SQL queries for accessing DB2 tables (Relational Databases);
Creating COBOL to DLI calls to access IMS Databases (Hierarchal Databases);
Performing Root Cause Analysis for production issues including job abends and inaccurate results, and providing fixes.
15% travel required.
