Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior Manager in Jersey City, NJ.
Work You’ll Do
Advise clients on U.S. federal income tax matters relating to the formation of funds, including hedge funds. Research tax issues and providing guidance to clients. Help assess, monitor, and maintain appropriate documentation for ASC 740-10 FIN 48 reserves. Conduct and manage due diligence investigations, including the drafting of diligence reports and overseeing all related matters. Supervise tax return preparation. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax planning services. Build and maintain strong relationship with clients. Liase with firm management. Coach and guide junior staff on improving the execution of complicated tax activities and the achievement of multi-faceted goals.
Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Law, Taxation, Finance, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
Four years of experience with investment management firms, multinational companies, and hedge funds.
Experience must include four years of:
Assisting investment management clients in Internal Revenue Service and state tax examinations, responding to and drafting IRS notice and draft memos to advise management about risk and potential payments;
Preparing tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 for large and mid-size corporations and partnerships, and reviewing consolidated and single entity U.S. federal and state income tax returns and related forms, including Form 1120, 1120-F, 1065, 5471, 5472, 8865, 8804, 8805, and 1042;
Performing tax planning, structuring and compliance services, including federal, state, and local tax returns, K-1s, and allocation workpapers, for partnerships and corporate entities;
Applying aggregation theory, stuffing, side pocket allocations, transfer/sale of partnership interests and partnership basis rules, including Sec. 754, 743, 734, 704, and 732, to review hedge fund and private equity allocations;
Reviewing taxable income for investment partnerships, including testing securities analysis adjustments (wash sales, constructive, straddles, short sales, Sec. 988 and Sec. 1256 market-to-market, and qualified dividend analysis);
Calculating current and deferred income tax expenses, reconciliation of income tax payable/receivable, audit deferred tax assets/liabilities, rate reconciliation, and FIN 48 analysis, and performing detailed reviews of client footnotes related to income taxes;
Reviewing federal, state, and local compliance filings for investment partnerships and management companies, and foreign compliance filings, including forms 8621, 8865, 8858, and 5471;
Utilizing tax research tools, including LexisNexis, CCH, BNA, RIA Checkpoint, and Westlaw, to research private equity and hedge funds, PTPs, international tax considerations, and administrative practices; and
Reviewing work papers and Schedule K-1s for various Investment Management Division products, including Hedge Funds of Funds, Long Only Funds, Seeding, Exchange and Private Equity Funds utilizing US tax code, regulations, and rulings, to ensure tax compliance prior to filing with the respective federal, state, local and foreign tax authorities.
