Work You’ll Do
Responsible for providing tax research and analyses for clients in diverse industries. Oversee day-to-day client service relationships and provide tax services to help improve compliance and maintain client’s overall tax risk profile. Work closely with clients and provide managerial support to members of the Deloitte Tax team in order to understand each organization’s global goals and strategies and analyze how industry and economic trends affect the business. Oversee the delivery of tax planning services including preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns. Responsible for keeping up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues, analyzing the client's business and tax; systems, taking responsibility for clearing open items relating to assigned areas, and meeting client deadlines. Oversee the preparation of tax work papers and tax returns including extensions, estimates, and tax provisions. Coordinate data gathering with various functions, gather data electronically and at the appropriate level of detail, and review data for completeness. Integrate data collection, reviewing client financials, calculating preliminary taxable income and various tax return items, and reviewing and signing off on tentative taxable income.
Master's degree in Accounting, Law, Taxation, Finance, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
Three years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
Experience must include three years of:
Leading CRS and US FATCA compliance with cross-functional teams, including internal legal, operations, and business teams and external investors, brokers, and custodians;
Reviewing federal, state and international informational tax forms, including Schedule K-1s, Forms 8621, 1120, 1120-F, 8858, 5471, 8865, 8832, 6781, 8886, and 965 for hedge fund and private equity clients;
Reviewing tax adjustments related to derivative securities (forwards, futures, options, swaps) and structured products, including bonds, loans and asset-backed securities ;
Reviewing taxable income for investment partnerships, including testing of securities for various book to tax adjustments (wash sales, constructive sales, straddles, short sales, IRC Section 987 transactions, IRC Section 988 transactions, IRC Section 1256 transactions, original issue discount, market discount, and qualified dividend analysis);
Assisting clients with various tax notices including drafting memos to analyze and respond to jurisdiction requests;
Conducting analysis on foreign corporation regarding calculations on FDAP, ECI, Branch Profit Tax, and Subpart F;
Applying tax codes and regulations relating to CFC (Controlled Foreign Company), subpart F income, and derivative transactions, including TRS (total return swaps), interest rate swaps, and currency swaps;
Reviewing E&P calculations and distributions for hedge fund and private equity clients; and
Mentoring and training junior team members on various tax topics related to private equity and hedge funds, and leading teams to oversee large compliance engagement projects.
