Deloitte Deloitte Entity Search & Compliance (DESC) Manager in Houston, Texas
Deloitte Entity Search & Compliance (DESC) Manager
As part of ICN, you will help the Deloitte US Firms remain independent-unbiased and free from conflicts of interest-when providing services to clients. Independence requirements are defined by specific sets of policies, external rules, and regulations, so maintaining both the independence of the Deloitte US Firms and personal independence is critical to the business and reputation of Deloitte.
Work you'll do
Management positions in our group provide a challenging opportunity for high visibility and frequent consultation with senior technical partners and leaders in addressing independence related issues. As a manager in the group, candidates will oversee a team working on the Deloitte US Firms' centralized system for monitoring independence from attest clients and their affiliates. Candidates will also be active participants in managing the timely update and completion of independence checks, processes, and supporting systems/databases, coordinating quality control processes, and leading consultations with engagement teams related to evaluating the application of independence policy, rules, and regulations.
Day-to-day activities include:
Working closely with Partners, Principals, Managing Directors (PPMDs), and engagement teams on policy consultations and business requirements involving the Deloitte Entity Search and Compliance (DESC) system as it relates to attest clients and their affiliates (including implementing requirements such as training materials, process definition, development of tools, and documentation)
Managing staff undertaking independence processes and assigned projects in direct support of firm policies, regulatory rules, and professional standards (including participation in hiring activities and conducting performance appraisals)
Coordinating the periodic review and update of critical risk and independence compliance data and processes (including process improvement, project design and development)
Participation in independence policy setting meetings aimed at developing guidance to address emerging independence issues
Drafting of internal correspondence aimed at increasing awareness of the independence rules and implications of new U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) rulings
