Work you ll do

The Configuration Management Discovery Analyst will participate on a team providing varied Configuration Management (CM) support. The Configuration Discovery Analyst will need to have hands on experience working with the ServiceNow enterprise platform, specifically ServiceNow Discovery, ServiceNow CMDB, IT Operations Management (ITOM) and IT Service Management (ITSM) applications. You will also be working with the CMDB, leveraging Discovery & Service Mapping and integrations with other data repositories. A new technology of patter matching will be used for Service Mapping to aid in the vertical mapping of application relationships to their various components. You will be a Discovery expert focused on the four major Discovery Lifecycle phases (Port Scan, Classification, Identification, and Exploration):

  • Oversee of ServiceNow Discovery, mid servers, architecture and general discovery administration.

  • Manage discovery logs and import sets for CMDB integrations

  • Aid with configuring and operating Service Mapping

  • Work with software owners to help map their applications

  • Number, record, store and distribute Asset and Configuration Management issues

  • Assist Asset and Configuration Management to prepare the Asset and Configuration Management Plan

  • Assist in the identification of products and CIs

  • Maintain status information on CIs

  • Issue copies of products for review, change, correction or information when authorized to do so

  • Collect and retain information that will assist in the assessment of what CIs are impacted by a change to a product

  • Work with discovery reports

  • Produces configuration status accounting reports

  • Liaises with other configuration libraries where CIs are common to other systems.

  • Write and maintain standard operational procedures

  • Validate data between sources

  • Maintain the integrity Configuration Items (CIs) in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) are identified, cataloged and tracked throughout their lifecycle

  • Perform audits and remediate attribute errors or omissions

  • Provide Configuration Management support to others that are responsible for the installing, upgrading and decommissioning equipment

  • Provide updates to configuration admins, establish priorities and assist with managing workload

  • Partner with ITAM and Configuration Management team to ensure processes are in alignment and we are aware of upcoming process and tool changes. Where appropriate make offers to test and pilot changes that will be impactful.

  • Partner with Project and Delivery Teams to ensure CIs are created in an automated fashion

  • Identify and address process improvements - be an advocate for support teams and drive process simplification
