Consulting Technology & Innovation, Technology Journalist - Office of the CTO

The Office of the CTO (OCTO) is looking for an experienced technology journalist to write, ghostwrite, and edit articles and other content on issues of interest to Chief Information Officers (CIOs), Chief Technology Officers (CTOs), and business executives with an interest in enterprise technology.

This position entails writing fresh articles and case studies. It also requires adapting existing content to address strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, and other matters that technology executives face in managing their IT organizations.

The position requires working with a wide range of professionals across Deloitte s global organization to produce concise, high-quality, and accurate materials for the CIO/executive audience. It demands a broad and current knowledge of technology trends and markets, and exceptional research, writing and editorial skills. This means writing translating complex technology topics into meaningful, jargon-free prose. Candidates must be skilled in interviewing professionals on complex topics, collaborating with graphic designers to develop visual assets, and meeting deadlines. Finally, candidates should possess a high level of professionalism and a commitment to quality in their work.

Work you ll do

Responsibilities:

  • Ghostwriting fresh, concise articles and case studies, and editing the writing of others to support Deloitte Consulting s technology practice and the Office of the CTO.

  • Managing multiple works streams simultaneously and independently.

  • Working closely with the CTO, OCTO team leaders, a senior technology writer, and with marketing/PR colleagues to generate a variety of deadline-driven pieces.

  • Interviewing Deloitte senior leaders and translating their insights and perspectives into compelling, professionally written materials (e.g., reports, POVs, articles, blogs, Q&As, PPT presentations, educational materials).

  • Developing ongoing relationships with Deloitte subject matter experts and practice teams.

  • Continually monitoring and identifying developments affecting CIOs and other information technology executives.

The Team

The Office of the CTO is part of Consulting s Technology & Innovation group. The mission of the Office of the CTO (OCTO) is to sense, research, and champion emerging technologies while deepening our reputation, relationship, and engagement with our clients technology executives.

What you ll bring to the table

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Minimum of six years experience writing about complex technology and business topics, ideally as a technology journalist for a publishing company or technology trade organization.

  • Bachelor s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related area.

  • Proven ability to write compelling ledes, and structure articles in ways that support a clear, linear narrative.

  • Broad, current understanding of emerging technology trends (e.g., digitization, AI, AR/VR, advanced networking, cyber security)

  • Excellent stylist capable of producing clean copy quickly

  • Excellent interpersonal skills accompanied by significant experience interviewing senior executives (in person and via phone)

  • Experience with cross-platform digital publishing and with multiple content types (social media, blogs, long-form digital and print articles, webcasts, embedded video, etc.)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Well-developed time, resource, and project management skills

  • Flexibility, adaptability, responsiveness, attention to detail, resourcefulness

  • A commitment to excellence and a high degree of professionalism

  • Ability to work as part of a team in a structured environment
