Deloitte Risk and Financial Advisory Corporate Development in Dallas, Texas

Deloitte's Risk and Financial Advisory Corporate Development team (RFA CD) is a small team of practitioners responsible for driving profitable inorganic growth for the US Risk and Financial Advisory business (annual revenues of $3+billion) primarily through M&A and divestitures. RFA CD is responsible for:

  • Developing inorganic growth strategies and priorities for the practice

  • Evaluating potential investments and divestiture opportunities

  • Liaising with acquisition target management teams and financial advisors

  • Working with various groups throughout the practice to close transactions

  • Advising throughout the integration and/or divestiture processes

  • Monitoring the results of completed transactions

Our team of dedicated practitioners is small and consists of high performers from client service with strong backgrounds in strategy, finance and M&A. We work on projects or deal teams that are structured much like client service strategy engagements. RFA CD also has close partnerships with many different groups across the RFA practice, in the US Firm, and Global that we work with on a day to day basis to achieve our team's goals. Furthermore, we routinely interact with third party investment banks and management teams as a part of acquisition sourcing and execution.

The role of the RFA Corporate Development Senior Manager is to lead projects that focus on the evaluation of new potential investments and divestiture opportunities. This person must have a proven track record and strong experience in evaluation and application of strategic frameworks and analysis, financial and business case development, and be comfortable leading teams of RFA practitioners to achieve high quality results. A background in strategic finance, growth or product strategy, corporate development or investment banking is ideal. The ideal candidate will be experienced developing executive caliber strategy deliverables and be comfortable working with and presenting to executive leaders of the firm. Knowledge of the RFA business and economics is desirable but not required.


  • Develop inorganic growth strategies and priorities for practice areas

  • Source deals through targeting and screening of potential acquisitions and other investments

  • Drive strategic analysis of investments (market and competitive analysis, business model development) and divestiture opportunities

  • Develop the financial business case for investment

  • Provide executive decision support for RFA and practice leadership (e.g. Chief Executive Officer, Chief Strategy Officer)

  • Develop strategic and business case deliverables for executive review and governance approval

  • Lead the development of acquisition priorities in conjunction with RFA Market and Industry leadership during the Deloitte Firm's biennial acquisition priority refresh

  • Guide business leaders in marketplace diligence and integration planning

  • Bring in relevant expertise from client service practice (integration teams) and subject matter experts within the firm to support projects

  • Support ad hoc requests from practice leadership

  • Scope, plan and manage teams of resources through execution of project, often running multiple projects in parallel

  • Work closely with SME's and project resources throughout the Firm to drive projects through to completion

  • Conducts research and analysis on M&A activity and special projects which includes gathering historical financial data, updating various databases, and tracking, organizing and distributing market information to Leadership

  • Delivers post deal follow ups for "best practices" and "lessons learned"

  • Participates in the annual Return on Investment and investment tracking process, as well as strategic planning when appropriate

  • Assists with and helps manage due diligence and data gathering process for investments and acquisitions

  • Work with global Risk Advisory and Financial Advisory corporate development network teams (e.g. UK, Canada, Australia, etc.) to evaluate and pursue cross member firm acquisition opportunities

  • Develops staff and oversees their work including technical training and mentoring

Skills and Competencies:

Basic requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in strategic finance, growth or product strategy, corporate development or investment banking

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced business degree preferred

  • Familiarity with professional services companies and business models; knowledge of Deloitte's internal culture, metrics and processes a plus

  • Ability to work independently as well as lead teams

  • Travel up to 50% (While 50% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)

Required expertise and experience

  • Experience assessing and managing a pipeline of products, initiatives or deal flow

  • Expertise in business model development, M&A diligence, and/or investment analysis

  • Expertise in application of strategic frameworks and analysis to business problems

  • Expertise in financial analysis, modeling and valuation

  • Banking, PE or VC experience desired

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
