Legal Business Services - Senior Consultant - Legal Operations

Work you'll do

As a Legal Operations Senior Consultant in Legal Business Services, you will work with a team of experienced professionals supporting Deloitte's suite of services driving transformation and modernization of corporate legal and compliance departments and/or corporate legal operations programs. You will contribute directly to delivering first class consultative services to our clients, and your support of the engagement lifecycle will include engagement leadership, sales and pursuit support, eminence, legal management consulting, legal process assessment, solution design, service delivery, and coaching and mentoring junior practitioners.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Contribute to pursuit presentations and presentation materials

  • Provide subject matter expertise on pursuits and proofs of concept

  • Meaningfully participate in or lead the creation of thought leadership content

  • Lead meetings with client stakeholders

  • Help identify, design, and implement creative solutions to client challenges

  • Participate in setting engagement objectives

  • Develop project plans for workstreams or components of an engagement

  • Conduct detailed analyses to draw conclusions and develop insightful recommendations

  • Produce high-quality client deliverables and executive-level presentations under tight deadlines

  • Participate in presentation of findings to senior client stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with client stakeholders

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior practitioners


  • 4+ years of professional experience, including 2+ years of demonstrated experience supporting legal or compliance departments within organizations

  • History of successful project management including program design, identification of opportunities and developing implementation plans

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and bring new ideas and insight

  • Experience leading client meetings and presentations without significant oversight

  • Strong sales focused communication skills including visual presentations

  • Hands on experience with leading technology across legal focus areas such as: Matter Management, Service Delivery, Intellectual Property, Entity Management, Compliance and Regulatory and Contract Management

  • Experience with MS Office Suite. Experience with SQL and/or Tableau is strongly preferred

  • Basic understanding of corporate business operations and functional business processes

  • Strong core consulting skills, including agility, innovation, and teaming

  • Experience directly leading workstreams or small teams within the context of a larger project

  • Experience establishing and managing priorities and delegation of tasks

  • Ability to work independently, on small teams, or on workstreams supporting larger projects

  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment

  • Passion to learn, grow professionally, and share knowledge

  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.

  • Travel up to 50% (While the ability to travel up to 50% is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)

  • Bachelor's degree required


  • JD, MBA, or Master's degree in Law, Leadership, Organizational Management, or Data Science

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma, or other similar certification

  • Prior consulting experience

  • Experience in legal operations, information governance, records management, contract lifecycle management, or data disposition

  • Experience with manipulating large data sets and database concepts
