The SC&E advisory team, part of Risk & Financial Advisory, is growing and requires outstanding, innovative, and engaging professionals to join our team. Through our services, we help our clients understand, engage with, and act on their sustainability-related risks and opportunities.

Work You'll Do

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for utilizing Analytics & Technology to drive Crisis Resilience related strategic transformation, combined with relationship-building, leadership, and communication skills. The ability to bring together stakeholders and persuade senior clients to act is essential. Candidates should be energized by continuous personal improvement, proactively seeking out new skills and perspectives, and exhibiting openness to coaching from senior colleagues while contributing to the development of junior staff.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Building Client Relationships: Engage with clients to satisfy needs, surpass expectations, and support long-term relationships

  • Leading Engagements: Deliver high-quality climate risk-related engagements, driving all aspects of delivery including deliverable design, client communication and overall project delivery.

  • Climate Risk Expertise: Leverage in-depth knowledge of the climate risk landscape to act as a 'trusted advisor' for client stakeholders.

  • Risk Assessment and Planning: Support in the assessment of climate risk maturity, development of climate risk scenarios, and development of climate risk program roadmaps, considering financial and non-financial value in both short and long-term timeframes.

  • Due Diligence and Reporting: Support activities related to climate risk due diligence, reporting, and disclosures.

  • Strategic Support: Understand, review, and support how climate risk can inform long-term client account plans and strategies and support identification of opportunities for clients.

  • Knowledge Development: Hold and continue to develop fluent knowledge of climate risk, decarbonization, and the latest developments in climate impact science.

  • Technology Utilization: Facilitate the use of technology-based climate risk assessment tools or methodologies to review, design, and implement solutions.

  • Internal Collaboration: Build conceptual and technical knowledge on climate risk across the wider Deloitte internal team.

  • Stakeholder Relationships: Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders across the firm, working alongside others on all climate risk and sustainability matters and industries as the team continues to grow.

  • Mentorship: Provide leadership and mentoring to junior team members and others where required.

  • Business Development: Develop business and lead proposal-writing for a variety of climate risk-related topics.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in climate-related fields such as climate risk assessment, measurement and analytics, climate risk modeling, climate risk reporting and monitoring, climate risk scenario analysis and planning, decarbonization and net zero strategies, energy and low carbon policy, or climate risk strategy and appetite.

  • Sound understanding of climate change and the key issues that surround climate risk mitigation.

  • Excellent client management and project management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including report drafting and delivering presentations.

  • Exceptional quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills.

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Security, Engineering, Information Technology, Finance, or Business.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship. Limited visa sponsorship may be available.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree and/or certification (e.g., MBA, CRCM, CPA, GARP FRM or SCR).

  • Proficiency in ERM frameworks and robust knowledge of the financial, operational, and strategic impacts of climate-related risks.

  • Experience in GHG measurement and ESG reporting.

  • Robust knowledge of existing and emerging regulatory requirements for climate risk, guidelines, and recommendations applicable to different types of firms and business models.

  • Proven experience in driving large transformation or implementation initiatives and expertise in all aspects of requirement gathering, data analysis, and gap analysis.

  • Strong technical competence in deploying tools or in using methodologies/approaches to assess climate risks (e.g., climate risk scenario analysis).

  • Experience with other environmental, social, and governance risk management topics.

  • Experience incorporating climate considerations into business functions (e.g., modeling, stress testing, etc).

  • Experience developing and presenting proposal responses.

  • Eagerness to mentor junior staff.

  • Proficiency in leading teams and managing others, and supporting/mentoring team members.
