Work you ll do

As a Deloitte Consulting R&WB Employer Health Consultant inthe Workforce Transformation/Rewards and Well-Being practice of Deloitte sHuman Capital group, you will assist Deloitte Senior Consultants, Managers, Sr.Managers and Partners in providing strategic and technical employee benefitconsulting services to plan sponsors (e.g., employers, state, county, and citygovernments, health & welfare funds, etc.). In addition to applyingthese skills in traditional settings, you will provide advisory servicesrelated to these issues in mergers and acquisitions, governance and riskmanagement, enterprise cost reduction efforts, and other transformationalbusiness initiatives. Other responsibilities may include:

  • Conduct employee benefits diagnostic/planning studies

  • Assist with preparing managed care plan design and pricing studies

  • Help conduct competitive vendor search and selection initiatives

  • Assistant with preparing financial projections and COBRA rate development

  • Review health plan performance, including reviewing and negotiating policy year settlements and premium rate/administrative fee renewals

  • Assistant in preparing client presentations and reports

  • Conduct other general health & welfare consulting activities, as required

In addition to serving plan sponsors, other project work caninclude working with payers and providers in such projects as HMO risk andvalue analysis, provider network development, operational claim reviews, etc.

Our consultants work collaboratively with clients to developcompetitive rewards programs so that they can recruit, retain, and engagetalent effectively. In addition to applying these skills in traditionalsettings, our consultants provide advisory services related to these issues inmergers and acquisitions, governance and risk management, enterprise costreduction efforts, and other transformational business initiatives.   • Bachelor s degree

  • 2 years of employer health experience

  • Experience reviewing health plan performance

  • Experience preparing financial/budget projections

  • Willingness to travel at least 25%Proficiency with MSOffice products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Due to COVID-19, certain on-site client work has been suspended until further notice, however, on-site work may be required on a case-by-case basis for this position.


  • 2 years of health plan/insurance company and/or consulting experience

  • Technical background in underwriting and other areas of health care finance

  • Strong understanding of health care plan design and alternative delivery systems, including consumer directed health plans with HRAs and HSAs

  • Knowledge (plan design and pricing) of other health & welfare benefit plans (e.g., life, disability, dental, etc.)

  • Technical background in underwriting and other areas of health care finance

  • Experience with project management, presentation, and facilitation

  • Flexibility to periodically serve out of town clients for an extended period of time

  • CEBS Designationor Actuarial credentials
