Work you'll do

Drives the next generation Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) strategy and discovery for utility clients, including conducting quantitative and qualitative research to answer ambiguous questions of strategic importance, and synthesizing research findings into compelling narratives with clear recommendations to drive business vision and value.Role Description:

  • Work on key strategic projects for Deloitte's Power, Utility & Renewables clients, including developing simple and clear explanations of complex multi-variable problems, developing hypotheses to test, planning, conducting analyses to turn data into meaningful insights, and proposing solutions and actionable recommendations

  • Independently conduct research (e.g., market, customer, competitive) and build databases and models that help understand and draw insights from key industry and customer trends provide insight to the leadership

  • Synthesize research into actionable insights through objective analysis (e.g., quantitative, and qualitative analysis, use of frameworks)

  • Develop strategic and financial rationales for high-priority initiatives, including storyboarding, business case development, and narrative development to describe business opportunities and develop operational plans to capture these opportunity

  • Advise senior clients and their teams to drive global alignment around strategic priorities

  • Develop future state technology roadmaps to set the direction for large-scale, complex next generation AMI business transformations, including use case and requirements development and analyses

Power, Utilities & Renewables

The Power, Utilities, & Renewables sector is undergoing significant regulatory changes while shifts in outage management are causing many industry leaders to rethink their governance models. Customer expectations for digital connectivity and ease of access are driving business process redesign around the customer experience. Connectivity to the grid is key, and companies are adopting new strategies for asset maintenance and more efficient methods of energy generation and distribution. Deloitte provides a large majority of the Fortune 500 P&U companies with Consulting services now, but moving forward, we have launched a growth strategy to at least double our revenue over the next 3-5 years. By working with Deloitte's Offering Portfolios to update our mix of services to our clients (digital technologies, SAP HANA, Cloud, Grid and Operations technologies), we are committed to helping our clients work with newly empowered customers, hyper-connected digital ecosystems, and expansion in data.

Operations Transformation

Our Operations Transformation team focuses on transforming our clients' core business operations. We advise, design, implement, and deploy solutions focused on "heart of the business" issues in specific sectors including Health Care, Banking & Securities, Insurance, and Energy & Resources. The type of work we provide to our clients includes Operations Excellence, Payment & Care Model Innovation and Emerging Business Models.

Our clients seek a fresh perspective on how to create a flexible, innovative business model supported by a strong operations foundation. Professionals will use their deep sector knowledge and technical business operations consulting experience to take a more strategic view of our clients' priorities, helping them to prepare for growth, embrace the digital agenda and maximize operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience within the Utilities sector (business, regulatory)

  • Utility capabilities knowledge

  • Advance Meter Infrastructure functional knowledge (meters, network, customer programs)

  • GridEdge (Edge Computing) knowledge

  • Distributed Energy Resources (DER) knowledge

  • Expertise within business case development, capability-drive transformation, operating model transformation, strategic planning, scenario planning, market research, strategy and visioning, use case and requirements development

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred:

  • Ability to validate/triangulate sources for relevancy and accuracy

  • Synthesis of findings into logically structured and concise insights

  • Strong communications skills including business writing and executive communications

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Experience with quantitative analysis of financial statements and operating metrics

  • Experience with market search and benchmarking

  • Strong storyboarding skills

  • Professional Presence

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $119,000 to $194,000.
