We recognize that you have unique skills, experiences, and interests, so we divide the broad scope of the Summer Scholar role into skills-based segments in order to best align each Summer Scholar with a focus area. The profiles function as subgroups that our Summer Scholars leverage to network and enhance their professional development. Setting our people up for success is our highest priority.
As an Actuarial Summer Scholar you will build financial & mathematical models that can improve organizational performance and help clients make informed business decisions. You will also advise clients on complex business problems by interpreting large data sets using statistical methods to quantify risk.
Deloitte Consulting's Commercial Actuarial offering consists of five Communities of Practice. Our analysts/scholars can align to Health, Property & Casualty, Life, Rewards & Wellbeing, or Mergers & Acquisitions.
The Team
Our practitioners will be able to maintain the specialization they have built to date in certain areas while also learning how it connects to broader issues in the market. We are committed to continuously supporting our practitioners as they build skills in either one specific part of our business or across the business - our Portfolio is structured to facilitate this learning. Our people will have the ability to capitalize on some of the biggest trends happening today and support organizations working to leverage their greatest asset: their people. We will continue to help our people deliver world-class services, innovate on new solutions and products, and prepare them to address our clients' most difficult challenges in the market.
Required Qualifications
Enrollment in a full-time academic program with a target graduation date by Spring/Summer 2026
Bachelor's degree in progress in the following or related majors:
Actuarial Science
Mathematics
Statistics
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Strong academic track record (3.0 cumulative GPA required, 3.2 cumulative GPA preferred)
Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at time of employment
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $39/hour.
