Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment Sector Research Manager
Deloitte Services LLP is searching for a Senior Research professional focused on the Telecom and Media & Entertainment (TM&E) sector for the Deloitte Center for Technology, Media and Telecommunications (the TMT Center). The TMT Center is the premier source of data-driven insights for Technology, Media and Telecommunications companies. Using deep knowledge of the TM&E sector, proven writing skills, and expertise in qualitative and quantitative research, the Senior Research Manager will help TM&E companies uncover new opportunities and solve tough problems.
Work you ll do
The Senior Research Manager will work closely with the TMT Center s Executive Director and Deloitte s senior practice leaders to develop a portfolio of research deliverables that grab the attention and provoke the thinking of TM&E executives throughout the world and influence the market. Product types include in-depth research reports, short articles, bylines, presentations, interviews, videos, podcasts, infographics, and webinars. The Research Senior Manager will lead projects and teams and use primary and secondary research and data analysis to develop penetrating insights that reframe issues and spark debate. In this role you will:
Work with the TM&E practice leadership and TMT Center leadership to develop the research agenda for the TM&E practice
Author thought leadership focused on the emerging and most inspiring topics affecting TM&E companies.
Collaborate with Deloitte partners, principals, and managing directors to develop research projects critical to their clients.
Conduct statistical analysis to develop predictive and extrapolative insights.
Make complex concepts easy to understand through data visualization and analytical frameworks.
Manage key projects and data collection processes for studies, working with team members and leadership.
Design and execution of in-depth primary and secondary research to form or support the hypotheses, including complex quantitative and qualitative data analysis, case study development, survey design and analysis, and interviewing senior executives
Ensure that research is created using credible qualitative and quantitative methodologies and based on key insights and findings from the studies.
Generate unique insights using structured and unstructured data.
Identify internal and external information sources, build effective working relationships with subject matter experts within the firm and the marketplace, and conduct effective interviews.
Integrate vendor-provided elements, third-party interviews, and publicly available information into research projects.
Possess and maintain excellent knowledge of the U.S. & Global TM&E sector
Manage and coach junior analysts and managers to design and execute research studies
Required experience and capabilities include:
10 years of experience in industry roles or consulting with TMT organizations, or a publication producing insights for TMT companies. Additional experience in M&E organizations is an asset.
10 years of direct experience using quantitative, qualitative, and secondary research methods.
Experience managing teams and complex research projects with a variety of stakeholders.
In-depth knowledge of the TM&E sector. Strong network of TM&E contacts preferred.
Proven, highly productive writer. Sole or primary author of an extensive portfolio of publications.
Conscientious, hard-working, and deadline-driven.
Enjoy working independently in virtual teams.
Ability to synthesize complex trends and explain them in clear, concise, vibrant prose.
Deep interest in TMT sectors and the discipline to stay ahead of fast-moving trends.
Ability to quickly grasp and explain how technological and social change can create new business opportunities for TMT companies.
Poised, polished, and professional; proven track record developing relationships with senior executives.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Top-tier MBA or PhD (in a related technology or business strategy field).
Strategy consulting experience or respected analyst house experience.
Ability to interview executives for podcasts and videos.
