CFM Consultant:

In the Client Financial Management practice, we make an impact by providing the most up-to-date research and analysis of the financial health of Accounts and Engagements within the Government and Public Services sector. We advise, guide, and monitor engagement costs to ensure contractual compliance and ultimately on-time and on-budget delivery to the client.

The GPS CFM group is comprised of high-performing Finance professionals specializing in engagement economics, client reporting, profitability optimization, and contractual compliance for Government and Public Services clients throughout the full project lifecycle, from the pursuit phase through project closeout. GPS CFM group supports client engagement team(s) by pricing pursuits, monitoring engagements and reporting on results.

Work you ll do

CFM Consultants are responsible for supporting one or more engagements through timely reporting and thoughtful analysis of periodic results both at the Engagement and Client levels. On any given assignment, Consultants may be responsible for the following activities:

  • Develop periodic reporting packages based on high level financial analysis of KPI s, trends, and other analyses;

  • Advising leadership on profitability improvement initiatives including risks, opportunities and best practices;

  • Prepare budgets and forecasts to project and track financial metrics such as revenue, expense, profitability, etc.;

  • Interact with senior level internal and external clients and firm leadership to present various analyses, discuss recommendations and provide project financial advice;

  • Perform day-to-day contract management responsibilities;

  • Ensures engagement teams are compliant with internal and external policies;

  • Maintains understanding and application of Federal Government contract requirements for programs and engagements;

  • Responsibility for the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate expense processing including A/P, subcontracting and procurement charges;

  • Contribute to the growth and development of the overall Client Financial Management Practice through active involvement in one or more practice initiatives

The team

Our CFM Practice ensures that client accounts and engagements within the Government and Public Services sector remain on track in terms of financials, risk and compliance. We work closely with engagement leaders to understand the operations on the ground in order to provide value-add reporting and analyses.



  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management, or a related area;

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a financial analysis role

  • Minimum of 4 years experience with the entire Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate to advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • In-depth knowledge of and working experience with Federal government contracting (FAR, CAS requirements)

  • Understanding of federal compliance strategies, such as time and expense recording, allowability and allocability of costs, in/direct cost principles, and procurement policies

  • Experience summarizing results and producing management reports

  • Experience soliciting data from and presenting results to Senior Leadership

  • Proven verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and adherence to project deadlines

  • Proven ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness and ability and willingness to travel as needed (frequency is dependent on the office location and engagement assignments)


  • Experience with Deltec Costpoint

  • Experience in working and collaborating with international teams

  • Experience working in a professional services firm

  • Experience with MS Project applications
