Deloitte Consulting's Project Controller Practice is comprised of client service professionals specializing in account and engagement economics, risk mitigation, profitability optimization and compliance services throughout the full project lifecycle, from the pursuit phase through project closeout. Project Controllers support client engagement team(s) by assisting with initiating and controlling financial and organizational aspects of projects. Their greatest value is in the understanding and application of engagement business and financial processes both to individual projects and to client accounts.

During this exciting learning experience, you ll work side-by-side with your PC team either in the office or at the client site to provide valuable deliverables to the project teams, helping to keep the clients project on schedule and within budget and scope. You ll also utilize project team communications to understand their needs and assist in the formation of business strategies. Work you ll do
As an Academic Year Intern in our Project Controller practice, you'll team and collaborate with other controllers to help assist Deloitte project managers in maintaining compliance with clients policies, perform internal financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost variance analysis in addition to managing projects billing and receivables process. You'll also monitor project performance and determine improvement areas by analyzing key performance indicators. On any given assignment, you may help to improve internal processes and directly communicate strategies and analytical results with your Project Controller team to help keep projects on track and within the scope of cost.
Our Project Controller practice helps clients define what they need and how it can be delivered. Using advanced financial, budgeting, and forecasting techniques we provide realistic cost estimates that account for projects phases, people, materials, hardware, and software. We produce the best- and worst-case estimates using leading-edge project and client management software to help keep clients projects on track and on cost. We manage risk by performing financial analysis and reconciliations to keep project variances in check. You will work in a team composed of management, both senior and junior staff along with team members in India. This team dynamic provides unique perspectives that will enable you to grow as a financial advisor and gain a well-rounded insight into the Project Controller practice.
Pursing a Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management or related area (junior standing)
Strong academic track record (minimum GPA of 3.2)
Rising college Senior or academic equivalent
Availability to work January through April, 16-24 hours/week for 2-3 days over the course of the internship (10-12 weeks)
Solid understanding of fundamental accounting and finance principles
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills
Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team
Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Ability to "think outside the box" while identifying problems and developing creative solutions
Willingness to travel
