Health Plan: Clinical & Op Model Transformation Consultant

Deloitte works alongside clients throughout the project continuum to help our clients address quality of care, access and cost concerns. We help our clients from assessment through implementation to create an infrastructure that enables sustainable, ongoing improvement in an uncertain time of regulatory reform. Our teams include professionals who have experience leading hospitals and health care systems in realizing significant savings while transforming the way patient care is delivered. They also include professionals with shared service experience, clinical informatics experience and care management experience which not only includes acute care but ambulatory and health plan. We incorporate leading practice methodologies, tools and training that helps make operational change sustainable.

Work you ll do

Consultants perform detailed, quantitative analysis work and along with their management team develop meaningful insights to address health care plans biggest challenges. These challenges encompass everything from helping providers increase revenues, decrease costs, accelerate cash flow, improve clinical outcomes and operational workflow efficiencies by addressing people, processes, and technology across every aspect of the project lifecycle. Responsibilities typical of a Consultant could include:

  • Own and manipulate large, confidential and complex data sets

  • Conduct detailed, quantitative and qualitative analyses using proprietary Deloitte tools

  • Participate in client interviews

  • Contribute to deliverable content to reflect the results of analyses

  • Present findings and recommendations to project leadership, and in some cases, client leadership.

  • Develop strong peer level relationships

  • Bachelor s degree from accredited university with strong undergraduate academic record

  • 18 months of professional experience in a health care provider, shared service, health plan or consulting setting, which include 1 year in plan operations or network management

  • Demonstrates consistent career progression with increasing levels of responsibility

  • Performed above expectations in previous professional roles

  • Competent in Microsoft Excel

  • Willingness and ability to travel 80%

  • Must live within commuting distance to one of Deloitte s consulting offices

  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.


  • Clinical Informatics experience

  • Professional experience with operational process mapping

  • Professional experience with healthcare cost reduction planning and implementation

  • Health Plan industry, Pharmacy, and/or Medicare experience

  • Excellent undergraduate academic record (GPA 3.5 )

  • 2 years of management consulting experience in a health care related field

  • Professional competence in Microsoft PowerPoint and Access

  • Superior critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal, team-building and communication skills

  • Ability to build consensus and foster change in a client business setting

  • Commitment to personal and professional growth

  • Sense of responsibility to self, team and client

  • Outstanding integrity, initiative, creativity, and passion

  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment
