Scrum Master

Deloitte is seeking a highly motivated individual skilled in team building and guidance who will work directly with 1-2 scrum teams with a focus on guiding the teams towards improving the way they work. The Scrum Master helps teams become high-performing and consistently deliver upon their sprint commitments through team level coaching, mentoring, and removing impediments from team members. The Scrum Master is expected to be able to mentor the development teams in the application of the scrum framework effectively as a part of this position. The Scrum Master facilitates the daily scrum meeting, sprint planning, grooming session, sprint review/ demos, and retrospective. The Scrum Master actively contributes to Deloitte s Agile Center of excellence.

Work you ll do

  • Guide the scrum team on team organization on how to use scrum and Agile practices

  • Oversee scrum process and mentor the team

  • Facilitate transparency, inspection, and adaption

  • Lead daily scrum, sprint review/demos, planning meetings, and retrospectives to ensure full team engagement

  • Manage interdependencies between agile teams

  • Work with the Product Owner to support short and long-term release planning to ensure a healthy backlog

  • Shield the team from external interference to enable optimal functionality and productivity

  • Anticipate and addresses potential or actual impediments to team delivery

  • Foster close cooperation across all team members; encourages cross-training and support

  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems may be raised without fear of reprisal

  • Administer and report on metrics tracking and other duties on behalf of the team

Our Customer Strategy & Applied Design team focuses on helping clients discover, design, and prototype customer growth strategies and innovation portfolios to create and drive change in a digital world. We bring knowledge and offerings to uncover the behaviors, motivations and preferences of our clients customers and develop new experiences for them. Our team of professionals has deep capabilities in strategy, customer experience, digital strategy and innovation within the Government and Public Service market.

  • Customer Strategy| Help clients build capabilities to better understand customer and citizen value drivers and make choices about how to best serve the markets and segments through digital, social, and mobile channels; optimize program and service decisions and shape the most strategic issues on the customer and citizen engagement agenda

  • Customer Experience| Help clients improve the quality, nature and power of interactions between the customer, citizen and the organization across the lifecycle of awareness, engagement and service at each and every touch point.

  • Applied Innovation| Help clients rapidly design, prototype and launch new businesses, programs and experiences, translating insights on human behavior from design-led methods into offerings and technologies that delight customers and drive mission success

  • Digital Strategy| Help clients understand, envision and articulate digital as a strategy aligned with their organization s mission and agenda and then craft a plan to embed everything they do with the latest technology solutions and business models to compete in the marketplace for customers and talent

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer science / software engineering or equivalent

  • First level Scrum Master Certification (CSM, PSM I)

  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least one year for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory

  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency

  • Knowledge of numerous well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burn-down techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)

  • 4 years relevant working experience on Agile projects

  • Self-starter that requires minimal supervision and can get things done by influencing others

  • Ability to identify and analyze a problem, propose solutions, and anticipate future problems

  • Goal oriented and driven on overall objectives and priorities of product and business

  • Planning and organization expertise to achieve end goal, utilizing resources available

  • Effective communicator through speech and writing

  • Be adaptable, enthusiastic, courteous, and flexible through process

  • Able to work well in a team with others and stimulate team cooperation

Preferred:

  • Second level Scrum Master Certification or PMI ACP

  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory

  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.

  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing and Agile Games

  • Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team

  • 3 years of Scrum Master Experience

  • Solid understanding of IT organizations and specific challenges they often face
