Deloitte Corporate Development Senior Manager in Arlington, Virginia

The Senior Manager is responsible for leading acquisitions, global investments and other large scale multi-year investment opportunities for Consulting. This role will develop strong trusted advisor relationships with the leaders of high priority practices within Consulting, working with them over time to refine and execute accelerated inorganic growth strategies.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Development of inorganic growth strategies for practice areas prioritized for investment

  • Evaluation of acquisition priorities

  • Market landscaping/segmentation, developing target profiles

  • Targeting and screening of potential acquisitions

  • Development of strategic rationale for investment (market analysis, competitive analysis, business model development)

  • Directing scope of financial and other diligence related analyses

  • Development of the financial business case for investment

  • Leading commercial due diligence for potential acquisitions

  • Development of the future state operating model for practice areas post-investment

  • Acting as a trusted advisor to business leaders throughout the investment process

The Senior Manager will work closely with acquisition Business Sponsors, Consulting practice leaders, DC and US Executive leadership, and US Corporate Development teams. The Senior Manager role will lead teams composed of full-time Corporate Development resources, project resources from client service and team members from other functions within Deloitte Consulting and Deloitte Services.

Key Activities and Capabilities :

Key activities include:

  • Developing robust inorganic strategies based on market insight, analysis and visioning

  • Working with practice leaders to refine, prioritize and roadmap growth priorities

  • Evaluating potential investments and developing compelling recommendations based on analysis

  • Articulating and refining the business's future state operating model post investment

  • Leading the acquisition process from priority setting through investment approval. Note that this role will not lead post-merger integration efforts but will be responsible for driving an orderly handoff to a full-time PMI team

  • Structuring executive presentations to present a compelling analysis and case for/against investment

Capabilities include:

  • Expertise in application of strategic frameworks and analysis to evaluate business problems

  • Logical structuring

  • Hypothesis based analysis

  • Experience with common methods and tools for interrogating business data

  • Able to tell a compelling business story through analysis

  • Experience throughout the acquisition lifecycle with a focus on acquisition strategy, strategic and financial analysis, and due diligence

  • Business case structuring (leading the process, not a core competency)

  • Aptitude/Interest in high-growth emerging technology areas: e.g., Digital technologies, Cloud, Internet of Things, Cognitive Science/Artificial Intelligence

  • Broad knowledge of Consulting industries and service areas

  • Experience in leading client engagements and managing teams of Consulting professionals

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, relationship building skills

  • Strong executive presence

  • Ability to manage several projects of varying complexity at one time

  • Ability to manage project resources, peer level resources and senior/executives to complete scope of work

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business environment

  • Strong planning and organizational skills with great attention to detail

  • Self-motivated, results oriented and able to work independently, and cooperatively within a team

  • Successful candidates will have 8+ years of total experience including Strategy Consulting experience in addition to Corporate Development or Banking experience

  • Successful candidates will be expected to develop a deep knowledge of Deloitte's internal processes and build trusted advisor relationships with key Consulting and Green Dot practice leaders
