We are looking for an energetic professional with outstanding financial analysis capabilities to join our venture accelerator team as a summer intern. Our summer intern needs to be a self-starter and enthusiastic team member who is highly organized with excellent attention to detail. As an intern within Deloitte New-venture Accelerator (DNA), you ll be a critical part of a specialized team that helps shape Deloitte s future with new growth opportunities. We accomplish this by pursuing our mission of building and scaling a portfolio of hybrid businesses that combine Deloitte s market leading professional services with IP-based products (e.g., data, analytics, or software). What you ll do:As a Strategic Finance Intern, you ll work with the DNA Planning and Performance team to review existing investments, as well as support the evaluation of new inorganic and organic investment opportunities. You will add value in many ways, such as: Performing financial analysis of our existing hybrid businesses (Deloitte portfolio companies), identifying trends and interpreting business drivers that impact the financial performance of such businesses Supporting investment thesis and/or business case development (Excel spreadsheet modeling) for all new prospective acquisition opportunities Researching and updating our competitive benchmarking database (equity research, leveraging databases (e.g., CapIQ, CBInsights), Form 10K s, etc.) Supporting a team member in the execution phase (e.g., operational model planning) to providing ongoing support to the acquired, startup-like businesses (e.g., growth strategy and financial viability of the new / existing products, financial & operational planning) Help enhance our existing tools that support our businesses (e.g. operational and annual planning tools and financial models) Work closely with other teams under DNA (e.g. Commercial insights, Talent, Strategic Alliances) and stakeholders across the core Deloitte functions to help shape and build the firm s hybrid business portfolio The team:The DNA team accelerates new business growth by providing critical support to Deloitte s core business lines (e.g., Consulting, Advisory, Tax) as they develop and expand into hybrid business models. We guide senior stakeholders to the opportunities that make the biggest impact. We are a tightly knit, high-performing team, who pride ourselves on exceptional service and the ability to build long-term, mutually beneficial, trusted partnerships. While we are a geographically dispersed team and work remotely a fair amount, we recognize and appreciate the value of face-to-face interaction and generally co-locate with our fellow team members at least two days a week in our offices in Princeton, NJ or Pittsburgh, PA. A strong, collaborative team culture is key to our success and we value every individual s perspective and input. Qualifications:Required: 3-5 years of relevant work experience in finance and general business management (both operational and strategic finance experience is valued) High-quality analytical and problem solving skills Enrollment in an MBA program and a strong academic track record Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to structure and synthesize qualitative / quantitative findings into leadership-level presentations and exercise mature judgement Exceptional Excel skills and experience structuring and analyzing large quantities of data and information is a need to have and the development of strategic, executive level PowerPoint presentations (comfortable with PowerPoint: initial story-boarding, formatting, proof-reading) is considered a plus Strong written and verbal communication skills Outstanding attention to detail, ability to proactively detect and report risks and ability to deliver to project deadlines Comfortable when working with ambiguity and in an unstructured environment and an ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team, while handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentPreferred: Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder organizations Prior experience in investment banking / management consulting / corporate development / internal strategy Transaction execution, growth strategy, and operational finance experience How you ll grow:Due to DNA s specialized and focused mission, our team members have the unique opportunity to work with senior firm executives and partners on high impact growth projects across the firm.
