The Availability & Performance Management group flexes to support business-lead software development while bring to bear best practices which streamline the implementation of application performance monitoring (APM). Availability & Performance Management application performance management (APM) tools underpin all application hosting services and enable an efficient hybrid business/IT application hosting model. In your role as the Availability & Performance Management APM Tools Manager you will own the design and implementation of the right tools and processes which enable rapid monitoring of applications, perform automated quality checks, and deploy monitoring solutions faster. An ideal candidate for this role will have a blend of development and operational experience that provides them with a good understanding of the developers they are working with, while also balancing customer satisfaction and maintaining critical systems uptime. In this role, you will partner with your peers and product teams to deliver high-quality APM solutions. Responsibilities: Establish APM tooling that integrates with on-prim and cloud-native applications.Ensure APM implementation documentation and processes are streamlined to provide rapid deployment of services by product teams.Partner with development and operations teams to develop practical APM solutions and custom modules. Troubleshoot APM issues and find practical solutions that move projects forward in a timely manner.Be the trusted APM tooling advisor for monitoring initiatives by providing objective, practical and relevant ideas, insights and advice.Plan, organize, and control multiple responsibilities to achieve project objectives; technically guide projects through to completion. Ensure deliverables are completed within target timeframes and are consistently of high-quality.Work with team to bring continuous improvement to APM processes and tools. Develop and own KPIs to ensure performance is measured against expected business outcomes.Qualifications:Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or relevant experience and accomplishments.5 years of experience in the IT field.3-5 years of Application Performance Monitoring (APM) Engineering experience managing solutions in development, QA, UAT through to production.Understand how to automate APM instrumentation for developer environments from development through production within a Continuous Delivery model.Experience of practical implementations of APM tools.Must understand Agile/SCRUM methodologies and have worked on a Scrum team.1 years of hands-on experience with APM tools such as New Relic and Microsoft Application Insights/Operations Manager1 2 years of experience with cloud services - AWS and Azure preferred2 -3 years of Linux/Unix/Windows system administration with experience in an environment with 500 serversFamiliarity with Docker containers, working experience a plusFamiliarity with microservices architecture, working experience a plusMust understand Agile/SCRUM methodologiesExperience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet2-3 years of experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, BASH, or Java/NodeJS1 3 years of experience with developing solutions in Visual StudioKnowledge of SQL, and non-relational (No SQL) databasesKnowledge of networking, firewalls, load balancers etc.Knowledge of best practices for IT operations in an always-up, always-available serviceExceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately with technical teams.Excellent influencing and reasoning skills; good at conflict resolution and consensus building.Ability to travel 10%.After hours on-call support occasionally required.
