The Center is staffed by professionals who bring a wide array of deep, hands-on industry experience. We know that when it comes to insight, what really matters is how to translate it into action. We are seeking a research intern to support the Center and to contribute to the research and publication process. An internship with the Center will give you give you access to Deloitte s thought leaders and a chance to form a perspective on the biggest challenges and emerging trends facing government. The internship will also provide you a chance to expand research, writing, and critical thinking skills. Work you ll doThe Research Intern at the Deloitte Center for Government Insights will support a variety of research and writing related to government issues. The Research Intern will contribute to white papers, policy reports, client presentations, case studies, articles, etc. that integrate information from a wide range of primary and secondary sources. The aim of these deliverables is to provide internal practitioners and the business development organization a competitive edge in interacting with clients. Provide analysis of emerging issues affecting government that could include topics such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, Agile software development Support writing, or in some cases lead the development of pieces for a state government or federal audience Monitor respected news sources and support the development of a monthly newsletter sent from the Center to an internal Deloitte audience of several thousand individuals Track relevant policy developments at the state and federal level for selected areas and analyze, share and present them Build effective working relationships with the center team and subject matter experts within Deloitte Provide support to other researchers by proofreading their documents and offering suggestions for improvement Contribute to various social networking and marketing efforts, including drafting and scheduling tweets and formatting and posting blogs Develop presentation materials and background documents for client meetings and presentations Support for meeting and event planning related to Center events The preferred location is Washington D.C. area. May require travel to attend offsite meetings, conferences, and/or training sessions. The teamThe Deloitte Center for Government Insights (DCGI), located in Arlington, VA, is part of Deloitte Services, LP and was recently formed in 2016 to produce groundbreaking research to help government solve its most complex problems. Through forums and immersive workshops, the Center engages with public officials on a journey of positive transformation, crystallizing insights to help them understand trends, overcome constraints and expand the limits of what is possible. QualificationsRequired: Undergraduate BA or BS; must currently be enrolled graduate school Must demonstrate excellent attention to detail Superior communications skills, both written and oral Comfort level with complex topics and ability to condense into manageable updates for use by policy and research team members Ability to adhere to tight timelines and deadlines Ability to get along with a diverse group of professionals in a highly dynamic atmosphere Ability to draft tweets related to thought leadership and relevant policy news Strong understanding of all Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) Ideally will exhibit desire to contribute to ongoing team effort and a willingness to pitch in as needed Flexibility and adaptability Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills; Ability to think creatively and bring economic analysis to policy issues Passionate about developing ahead of the curve, provocative thinking, delivering results, and achieving success Self-starter, independent thinker and resourceful, and competency to work well with team members, many of whom are in offices outside of Washington Build relationships and credibility with internal clients by demonstrating consultative skills that generate demand for projects that are aligned with firm and Center prioritiesPreferred: Previous position(s) in consulting, public policy, government relations, think tanks, academia, research related to government s is a plus How you ll growThroughout the internship program, we want to give you a true taste of life at Deloitte.
