Are you interested in working in one of the hottest areas of the market today, modernizing applications for our clients, all the while working with high caliber team members and continually learning and expanding your skills? Work you ll doAs a Senior Manager you will bring considerable technical, functional, and product expertise to deliver application and systems modernization solutions effective to clients. You will work on application modernization projects to help transform application code written in native/legacy languages (e.g., COBOL, Natural, PL/1) into modern languages (e.g., Java, .NET). This process helps our clients solve problems, improve operations, and update their applications more easily, quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively. Beyond that, you may lead teams as they help our clients modernize prioritized functionality in their systems (e.g., Business Rules Engines, Mobile Applications). You will have responsibility to:Lead Application Modernization efforts serving clients, either in the Code Refactoring/Migration stage or in a Modernization effort of systems that have refactored codeProvide technical insight and oversight for teams performing analysis of refactored code defects in custom-made refactoring tools; collaborate with leads across a team of engineers and products developers to plan and execute workLead engagement planning and budgeting; mobilize and manage engagement teams; define deliverable structure and content; facilitate buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client; direct on-time, quality delivery of work; manage engagement economics; manage engagement riskManage day-to-day interactions with executive clients and sponsorsDevelop and maintain contact with top decision makers at key clients; organize and lead pursuit teams; participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process; contribute to the development of proposal pricing strategiesDevelop practical solutions and methodologies to further support the Application Modernization offering; develop "thoughtware" and "point-of-view" documents; participate in public speaking events; get published in industry periodicalsDrive sales and proposal work as we compete for new businessPerform role of counselor and coach; provide input and guidance into the staffing process; actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities; provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff in local officesThe teamSystems IntegrationAt Deloitte Consulting LLP, our systems integration specialists help clients manage the complexity inherent with technology change, from requirements planning to architecture, testing to deployment, and beyond, helping to link their IT programs to organizational goals. Application Modernization Senior Managers are required to have:10 years of relevant consulting or industry experienceDemonstrated understanding of tool based modernization, includingcode analysis, code conversion and automated testing toolsDemonstrated understanding of the nuances of the tool based modernization SDLCDemonstrated experience executing the SDLC against multiple modernization projectsAt least 4 years of experience managing large technology engagements, including project management-related tasks (e.g., scheduling, estimating, budgeting) and managing multiple work threads or engagementsA minimum of 6 full life cycle implementationsAt least 4 years of experience with application architecture and solution development with JEE(J2EE) or .NETAt least 4 years of experience leading technical analysts or development teams through system migrations, updates, or implementationsMinimum of 4 years of experience performing conceptual and technical designs, including the use of object oriented analysis and design techniquesUnderstanding of user experience, user centered design and responsive web designA Bachelor's Degree or higher, preferably in a Computer, Information, Engineering or equivalent experienceA willingness to travel 80 - 100% of the time In addition, successful Application Modernization Senior Managers will have the following preferred background:Experience with application or core modernization either through the use of custom-built tools or through MOTS/COTS productsExperience working with mainframe technologies (COBOL, NATURAL, PL/1, VSAM, JCL, ADABASE), either as a programmer or manager of teams who work with these languagesExperience working as a programmer in JEE(J2EE) or .NETExperience with DevOps practices and toolsExperience and/or passion for implementing cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud PlatformLeading teams through IT Strategy initiativesExecutive presence, strong communication skills, poise, confidence in making decisionsHow you ll growAt Deloitte, our professional development plan focuses on helping people at every level of their career to identify and use their strengths to do their best work every day.
